Since graduating from Davidson (The College That Stephen Curry Built), I have been writing about sports -- just about any and all you can think of! -- and coaching tennis in Atlanta, GA. Beyond the four major sports, I am an avid tennis fan and cover the ATP Tour on a daily basis. If I'm not busy writing, you can generally find me on a tennis court or traveling the world wherever a sporting event takes me. For Ricky Dimon media enquiries, please email contact@pickswise.com.

Good morning, Pickswise Nation. There is still plenty of sports action on the menu even during these dog days of summer. The week in Major League Baseball continues, Wimbledon forges ahead and the next PGA Tour tournament tees off this morning. It’s another big day in the world of sports, so let’s get right to it and make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!

About Last Night

Pickswise MLB expert goes 2-0 with YRFI/NRFI picks
It was a successful night at the office for Pickswise’s MLB handicappers. We cashed our lone 3-star bet of Braves -1.5 over Guardians and our best prop bet also came from that game and was an easy winner (Cal Quantrill gave up 11 hits, going over with room to spare in Cleveland’s 8-1 loss). Additionally, we went 2-0 on our YRFI/NRFI plays to put our handicapper Caleb Wilfinger on a 12-3 run.

Another rainy day at Wimbledon
There were more rain delays at the All-England Club on Wednesday, but the skies cleared up in the late afternoon and evening. Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced in 5 sets and will face Andy Murray next. We are 4-1 on our best bets through the first 3 days of the Championships.

Today’s Slate

A 12-game schedule in Major League Baseball
With the NFL, NBA and NHL currently on the shelf, Major League Baseball is shouldering the load right now and the week continues with 12 games on Thursday. There are 3 afternoon contests, including Cubs vs Brewers. Don’t miss our MLB predictions.

First-round and second-round action at Wimbledon
The first week of Wimbledon has been plagued by rain, but the forecast is better for Thursday and a jam-packed schedule is on the menu. You can find all of our Wimbledon coverage on the tennis page.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Oakland Athletics vs Detroit Tigers Over 8.5 (-115)
1:10 pm ET

Oakland is starting Hogan Harris, who has made several starts this season and has a 5.16 ERA. Harris has allowed 4 runs in each of his last 2 starts. Michael Lorenzen is taking the mound for the Tigers, who have lost his last 6 starts. Lorenzen has given up 5 or more runs in 3 of his last 5 outings. The Tigers tend to leave him out there a long time, though, and that should lead to some runs. Moreover, neither bullpen is good and Oakland specifically has the worst bullpen in baseball. Expect a lot of runs in this one. Check out our full Athletics vs Tigers predictions.

Must-read

The country club sports are in full force today. On the tennis court, we have our Wimbledon Day 4 best bets while our Wimbledon Day 3 picks are also still alive due to the weather delays. On the golf course, Diane Knox Balas has John Deere Classic predictions – which gets underway this morning – as she tries to keep up her hot streak after scoring with Rickie Fowler at +1400 last week.

Our MLB YRFI/NRFI best bets for Thursday are already posted as we look to deliver another 2-0 day, while I’ve posted today’s MLB mega parlay with hopes of hitting my 2nd in a row after a win last week at +1233 odds.

Stat of the Day

Denny McCarthy is ranked fourth in strokes gained putting on the PGA Tour and #1 inside 10 feet heading into this week’s John Deere Classic.

Quote of the Day

I’m playing well enough to beat most of the players, I think, in the draw if I play well. Physically, I feel good. Yeah, physically I feel absolutely fine right now.

— Andy Murray following his first-round victory at Wimbledon
