I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. March Madness is officially here, as the First Four will get the NCAA Tournament started on Tuesday. That’s not all, there’s also plenty of NBA, NHL, and soccer action coming our way. Let’s get straight into making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Lakers get embarrassed, again
A lot happened on Monday’s NBA slate. The Nuggets squeaked past the 76ers while the Bucks outlasted the Jazz in the night’s two marquee nationally televised matchups. But it was hard not to pay attention to the Lakers suffering yet another humiliating defeat. This time getting blown out at home by the Raptors, the day after getting demolished by the Suns. In case you missed it, NBA champion Brian Scalabrine wrote last week for Pickswise about why he thinks Los Angeles is struggling so badly.

Coyotes keep it rolling in Monday’s only NHL game
There was but a single game on Monday’s NHL card, and the Coyotes picked up another win with a 5-3 victory over Ottawa. Don’t look now, but Arizona has quietly won five of six while scoring 29 goals in their last five. They aren’t going anywhere this season, but it’s an encouraging sign for next year. It was also a good night for Pickswise Nation, as our expert had Coyotes money line at +130 and the over 6.0. We also hit our only NHL player prop of the night at +250

Today’s Slate

First Four gets started
At long last, March Madness is here. The 2022 NCAA Tournament will officially get underway on Tuesday with the beginning of the First Four. Texas A&M CC will take on Texas Southern in the #16/#16 play-in to get things started, and then #12 Indiana will play #12 Wyoming in the main attraction. Both games will be on TruTv. Read our picks for all of today’s college basketball.

NHL mega-card
There was only one game on the NHL card for Monday, so it’s only right that we’re treated to a huge slate on Tuesday. A whopping 11 games are on the docket, so there’s a lot to digest. A matchup between Pittsburgh and Nashville highlights the early slate, and there’s a strong nightcap in Los Angeles as the Kings host the Avalanche. We’ll of course have free picks on the side and total for every game on the ice tonight.

4-game slate in the NBA
The NBA doesn’t have its most inspiring slate on Tuesday, but there are still four games to pore over. The first three are all likely to be runaways, but the last matchup between the Suns and Pelicans on NBATV at 8:00 pm ET should at least offer some excitement. Read our picks for all of today’s pro basketball.

Best Bet of the Day

Washington Capitals ML vs New York Islanders
7:00 pm ET, ESPN+

The Capitals match up well here. The two defenses are similar in quality, but Washington has the far superior offense. When these teams played back in January, the Islanders got shutout as the Caps won 2-0. Washington is coming off a road win over Vancouver, and the offense has been clicking lately. They’ve scored at least three goals in six straight, and we just don’t see New York’s anemic attack being able to keep up. Check out our full preview of Islanders vs Capitals.
