Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

The MLB playoff race is heading for a dramatic finale and we also have a host of soccer action in MLS and the UEFA Champions League today before college football and the NFL return tomorrow. Let’s get straight to it!

About Last Night

Cruising Cardinals end NL wild-card race
Playoff places continue to be taken off the table in the MLB. The National League wild-card race is all over after the St. Louis Cardinals sealed the second spot with their 17th straight win yesterday. The Cardinals are now just +2200 to win the World Series.

The American League wild-card race is an entirely different story — it really is going to be a wild finish with the Yankees, Red Sox, Mariners, and Blue Jays locked in a tight battle and the A’s still alive but falling away after back-to-back losses. The Astros are close to clinching the AL West, with the Braves (-1050) and Giants (-480) favorites to top the other two unsettled divisions. Our MLB team went 2-1 on their Best Bets yesterday with the Giants -1.5 and Dodgers ML cashing, and you can check out today’s MLB picks here.

Today’s Slate

Crucial games in MLB playoff race
The Mariners can put themselves right in line for one of those AL wild-card spots if they make it 9 wins in their last 10 against the Athletics today, but they are +100 to win. There’s a full slate of 15 games from Nationals vs Rockies at 3:10pm ET through to two 10:10pm ET games. Check out our MLB Mega Parlay (+1362 odds!) for today.

Soccer action heats up
Tuesday afternoon’s UEFA Champions League action included a sensational Lionel Messi goal in PSG’s 2-0 win over Manchester City, plus Real Madrid being upset at home by +2000 underdogs Sheriff Tiraspol! Check out our picks for Juventus vs Chelsea and Villarreal vs Manchester United, plus a big MLS midweek slate here.

Best Bet of the Day

Atlanta United ML vs Inter Miami
7pm ET, ESPN+

There’s no reason at all to have any confidence whatsoever in Inter Miami right now. David Beckham’s team has looked to build a brand, rather than construct a roster, and aging veterans past their prime like Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi might sell a few extra tickets, but they haven’t been able to contribute much to help the team’s results. Miami has lost its last 2 games, both at home, by an aggregate score of 9-1. Hitting the road to face one of the league’s hottest teams looks to be nearly impossible in their current form. Read our full preview for this game.

Stat of the Day

The Nationals are just 6-12 in Paolo Espino’s 18 starts this season. They face the Rockies today.

Boost of the day

Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees both to win

FanDuel Sportsbook has paired two MLB favorites in this 2-team parlay on the Red Sox (vs Orioles) and Yankees (vs Blue Jays), boosting the odds on both teams winning today from +160 to +200.
