Bengals vs Browns Pickswise Expert Predictions

Cincinnati Bengals
Point Spread Pick
CIN Bengals -5.0(-110)

It will be an AFC North rivalry game when the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns square off on Sunday afternoon in Cleveland. The Browns have become what the Bengals used to be: a moribund franchise. Cleveland compiled a 3-14 record last season, marking the 15th time in the past 17 years that it has been under .500. Cincinnati, on the other hand, has posted a winning record on 4 consecutive occasions. I’m sticking with that trend and backing the much better team to take care of business. My Bengals vs Browns prediction is for the visitors to win and cover.

Quarterback is the most important position in sports and Cincinnati boasts a massive advantage under center. Joe Burrow of the Bengals is an obvious MVP candidate, whereas the Browns’ QB situation has perennially been a debacle for several decades now — enhanced to an even greater extent by the Deshaun Watson debacle. Joe Flacco is starting the season as QB1, although who knows when Shedeur Sanders or someone else will get a turn? Flacco is 40 years old, so he isn’t going to strike fear into anyone on Cincinnati’s defense. The Bengals won both of the head-to-head matchups in 2024; the first by 18 points and the next one by 7. They should take care of the Browns yet again.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns prediction: Bengals -5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.

Cleveland Browns
Cincinnati Bengals
Game Totals Pick
Under 48.5(-112)

This is an intriguing contrast in styles between one team — Cincinnati — that boasts a dynamic offense but is less than stellar on defense. Cleveland is the opposite; it relies on its defense to make up for an offensive attack that could be little more than inept. With the Browns playing at home, the game is more likely to be played at their pace rather than that of the Bengals. Moreover, the 2 head-to-head meetings last season were low scoring (35 and 30 points scored). All things considered, my Bengals vs Browns prediction is Under 48.5.

Unsurprisingly, Cleveland was dead last — with room to spare — in scoring last season at 15.2 ppg. It was #28 in total offense. Things don’t figure to improve much with Flacco at QB and Nick Chubb gone. Keep in mind that the Browns passed on a chance to draft Travis Hunter and instead traded back to stockpile future picks and also select a defensive tackle in Mason Graham. Clearly this team knows it is years away from doing anything — especially on offense. Although I like this play a lot, I can’t put max confidence on the under in any game involving the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns prediction: Under 48.5 (-112) available at time of publishing. Playable to 47.5.
