Cincinnati Bengals vs Philadelphia Eagles Prediction, Odds and Picks for Tomorrow, 08/07/25

Week 1 of the NFL preseason includes a contest between the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night in Philadelphia. Somewhat surprisingly, the Bengals will be put some of their starters on the field for this one — including Joe Burrow. Head coach Zac Taylor said that they would play for “several series,” although he also said that the majority of the starters’ work would come in 2 weeks against the Washington Commanders. Whatever the case, that is why the Bengals are favored by 6 points on Thursday. Still, I’m not giving 6 points in a preseason game almost under any circumstances, and this particular game is no exception. As much, my Bengals vs Eagles prediction is Philadelphia +6.

Philly’s Super Bowl title defense will begin for real with a Thursday Night Football showdown with the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys next month, but for the time being it is simply be trying to win their preseason opener for a second straight season. In 2024 the Birds opened with a 16-13 victory over the Baltimore Ravens before defeating the New England Patriots 14-13. As for Cincinnati, it went 0-3 in the preseason last year after going 0-2-1 in 2023. The Bengals have compiled a losing record in 5 consecutive preseasons. Their QB crew behind Burrow – Jake Browning, Desmond Ridder and Payton Thorne – does not inspire much confidence. Philadelphia should have enough depth on the defensive side of the ball to presumably keep the Bengals’ offense under wrap most of the way, at least after Burrow exits. Give me Eagles plus the points.
