There’s no question where the game of Week 6 takes place as M&T Bank Stadium plays host to the 4-1 Ravens taking on the 4-1 Chargers. This is a matchup we can all get excited about as these  franchises look to solidify their position in the AFC Championship picture. Both teams have already put down a marker by beating the reigning conference champions, the Chiefs, and can call on two of the best quarterbacks in the league. However, the Ravens and Chargers have also shown their vulnerabilities at times too, none more so than in Week 5 when both came back from the brink to win their respective games. The Bolts could not find a way to stop Cleveland’s ground game as the Browns rushed for 230 yards, and that could pose a big problem against a Baltimore team that ranks 4th in average rushing yards per game with 148.8.

The Ravens’ main issue has been starting slowly, as they failed to score in the first quarter for the 3rd time in Monday’s win over the Colts. That has lead to the Ravens playing in a lot of come-from-behind, close games, with 4 out of 5 matches being decided by 1 score this season. Fortunately, Baltimore have Lamar Jackson, who has risen to the occasion when it counts, posting a franchise-record 433 passing yards in the Colts game. Jackson is firmly in the MVP conversation but so too is Chargers QB Justin Herbert, who orchestrated the 47-42 win over the Browns to continue his remarkable season. This preview could easily just be a list of Jackson and Herbert’s achievements this season but there’s more to the game than the QBs. The Chargers appear to have the edge with their defense having been solid before the Browns game, while their offense may have just a few more weapons than the Ravens, who are still figuring out their backfield situation and have just played overtime on a short week. The Bolts are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games and are taken to cover again against this Baltimore team that can’t help but get involved in close games.

If the Chargers can’t find a way to stop the run they could find themselves in another shootout against a Ravens team that has seen the over cash in 6 of their last 7 home games. The Bolts are badly missing Justin Jones on their defensive line, while no one has found an answer to stopping Jackson for the Ravens this season. It has been a case of pick your poison with Jackson, who has looked equally proficient with his arm now as he has done with his legs previously.

Herbert had no issues carving up a much talked-about Browns defense last week and the Ravens, who currently rank 22nd in total defense (DVOA) will hold no fears for the former Duck. The Chargers are averaging 28.4 ppg after the shootout with Cleveland and these offenses look too good for the over not to land.
