New Orleans Saints vs Seattle Seahawks Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/21/25

It’s far from the most attractive game on the NFL Week 3 slate, but the lowly New Orleans Saints could actually pose a challenge for the Seattle Seahawks in the Pacific Northwest on Sunday. The Saints are a team that are expected to be among the worst in football, but New Orleans has actually shown some fight over its first 2 games against a pair of NFC West teams that are pretty comparable to what Seattle has to offer, if not better. In fact, New Orleans was able to cover the number against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 and were hovering around the number for the majority of the contest against the 49ers in Week 2.

New Orleans’ secondary is nothing to write home about but the Saints defensive front has been decent enough and they should be able to disrupt a Seahawks offensive line that has been mediocre at best this season. Seattle will also likely be without running back Zach Charbonnet, which is a significant hit a ground game that has been inconsistent. Sam Darnold has been up-and-down over his first 2 games in Seattle, and I wouldn’t expect that to change if he’s being pressured a bit, even at home. As for New Orleans’ offense, this is not a unit that is going to inspire much confidence, especially away from home. However, this is a unit that did see some success against San Francisco and Arizona over their first 2 games, and the Saints actually rank just ahead of Seattle’s offense in terms of EPA per play (24th) and success rate (20th). Ultimately, this is an ugly game that shouldn’t feature many points. As a result, I’ll back the ‘dog in this one.

This has all the makings of an ugly game, and a large part of that is due to what we’ll see from both offenses. However, the Saints defense is actually 18th in EPA per play and success rate allowed, making this a perfectly respectable unit, especially with what we’re seeing from the Seattle offense. To Seattle’s credit, the Seahawks have been strong on defense to this point, and that should hold under head coach Mike Macdonald. The Seahawks are a top 10 outfit in EPA per play, success rate allowed and EPA per rush, which should make things difficult for New Orleans to get anything going on the ground in hopes of helping out Spencer Rattler get into a rhythm on the road. Even if the Seahawks are able to win and cover this game, there’s still a good chance it goes under the total at the current number. Try to get 41 or better, as this is a very key number in NFL totals.
