US Open Day 3 Best Bets & Predictions: 3 Picks for September 1
The U.S. Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam of the tennis season, continues with first-round action on Tuesday, September 1. Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff, Madison Keys and Mirra Andreeva are among those taking the court. Here are the US Open best bets to be made on Day 3 in New York City, while there's still time to check out my US Open men's singles predictions and US Open women's singles best bets for futures picks to win it all.
US Open Parlay: Lorenzo Musetti ML over Arthur Fery and Iva Jovic ML over Magdalena Frech (-154)
Musetti is among one of the best players in the world when healthy. The Italian may not be quite in peak form at the moment, but he has recovered from various injuries and picked up momentum with a quarterfinal performance at the Cincinnati Masters. Musetti has not lost to anyone ranked worse than 30th in the rankings since March. Fery has little rest after losing to Ignacio Buse in the Winston-Salem final on Saturday, so fatigue could be a factor.
Meanwhile, Jovic is 17-9 on hard courts this year; Frech is 24-28 on hard courts dating back to 2025. Although Jovic lost early in Cincy, it could be a blessing in disguise for her to rest up for the US Open.
US Open Best Bet: Maria Sakkari -2.5 games over Robin Montgomery (-110)
Sakkari is a former U.S. Open semifinalist (2021). She may not be at that level these days, but the world No. 35 is still playing well. She has advanced at least one round in four consecutive tournaments dating back to Wimbledon.
Montgomery has not been able to sustain any momentum over the past two seasons because of injuries, which have her down at 187th in the rankings. The 21-year-old American is better than that number would suggest, but good enough to beat Sakkari? Probably not.
US Open Prediction: Daria Vidmanova ML over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (-110)
Vidmanova was one of the best college players at Georgia and is impressively making the transition to the pros in 2026. The Czech’s hard-court summer features a runner-up showing in Memphis and a quarterfinal result in Monterrey as a qualifier. While Vidmanova is rolling, Bouzas Maneiro is just 3-6 in her last nine matches. The Spaniard is also 6-13 on hard courts this year, while Vidmanova is 19-8.
