I have been picking on the Arizona Diamondbacks offense when facing right-handed pitching, as they are in a major slump, but their offense has actually been productive against southpaw pitching in 2026. They have a 106 wRC+, the 10th best wOBA, and the 4th lowest strikeout rate against lefties so far. On Tuesday the team faces MacKenzie Gore. Gore is in poor form with 3 or more earned runs allowed in each of his last 4 starts. This includes 5 earned runs against the Yankees in his last outing. Control of the zone is a major concern with his 11.9% walk rate, and his low ground ball rate doesn’t help him exit jams easily.

Zac Gallen is the other starter in this game and he is not in good form either. The right-hander was knocked around by my Pirates in his last start, allowing 4 earned runs and 2 home runs in that start. His prior start resulted in 6 earned runs to the Cubs. Gallen’s 14th percentile hard-hit rate and 10th percentile strikeout rate are a worrisome combination and I favor the over in this game.
