Atlanta Braves vs Boston Red Sox Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 05/28/26

The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox split the first two games of this series, now sending a pair of dominant lefties on the bump this time around. Chris Sale (1.89 ERA, 0.87 WHIP) starts for Atlanta while Peyton Tolle (2.45 ERA, 0.82 WHIP) takes the mound for Boston. Both starting pitchers have been incredible in 2026 with their baseball savant pages looking like a murder scene; red everywhere. Both lefties fall in the 80th percentile or better in xERA, strikeout rate and pitching run value. In relief, both teams boast top-5 bullpen units in terms of combined ERA.

The pitching should be stellar in this matchup, but it’s tougher to rely on the 23-year-old Tolle with only six starts this season. Atlanta ranks top-3 in MLB with a 112 wRC+ mark and the Braves’ lineup should be relatively familiar with Tolle’s stuff after facing him less than two weeks ago. I’ll lean on the veteran pitcher Sale and what’s consistently been the better offense over the course of the season and take the Braves to win this one outright.
