Baltimore Orioles vs Tampa Bay Rays Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 05/20/26

The Tampa Bay Rays will look to complete the sweep against their division rivals, the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon as they send the lefty Steven Matz to the mound who enters with a 4-1 record, 3.86 ERA, and a 1.10 WHIP through seven starts this season. For the Orioles, they’ll hand the ball to Shane Baz who is 1-5 on the season with a 5.26 ERA, and a 1.52 WHIP in nine starts. 

Tampa Bay have been one of the most surprising teams in baseball this season, powered by elite starting pitching and a high-level offense. Their starting rotation has posted a league-best 3.01 ERA, while the lineup ranks near the top of the league with a .262 batting average and 4.8 runs per game. For the Orioles, their starting pitching has been a nightmare, posting a 5.20 ERA and their bullpen hasn’t been much better, holding a 4.69 ERA this season. Offensively, the Orioles are batting just .232 this season and averaging 4.3 runs per game. This is a matchup where the Rays have a significant advantage on the mound and at the plate. Matz has been a much better starter than Baz, and I don’t expect Baz to turn things around against one of the best offenses in the league. Look for the Rays to complete the sweep, making them my best bet of the day.
