Baltimore Orioles vs Washington Nationals Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 05/17/26

The Washington Nationals will look to complete the sweep against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday after a dominant 13-3 victory on Saturday. Washington will hand the ball to Miles Mikolas, who enters with a 1-3 record, 7.00 ERA, and a 1.53 WHIP through six starts this season. For the Orioles, Brandon Young will get the nod, who is 3-1 with a 4.15 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through five starts. 

Even though the Orioles strung together 10 hits on Saturday, they managed to score only three runs, and their bullpen completely unraveled late in the game, giving up nine runs over the final two innings. With Baltimore’s bullpen heavily utilized heading into this matchup, that could become a major issue once again. Neither starter has been particularly reliable this season, and both teams have struggled this season when calling on the bullpen to shut things down. The Nationals hold a 4.74 bullpen ERA while the Orioles sit at 4.46. Mikolas has has trouble pitching deep into games, and so has Young. Given the state of both pitching staffs and how explosive Washington’s offense looked on Saturday, this matchup sets up well to be a high-scoring battle. Look for both offenses to get going in what I expect to be a high-scoring battle on Sunday afternoon.
