Twins vs Red Sox Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
BOS Red Sox Win(-150)

It’s shaping up to be a great pitching matchup when the Minnesota Twins take on the Boston Red Sox on Friday evening. With the Red Sox coming off a 3-game sweep over the Kansas City Royals, they’ll hope that rising star Payton Toll will be able to continue his great play against another breakout pitcher in Connor Prielipp. Boston and Minnesota have similar records heading into this series, sitting 5 and 4 games below .500, respectively, but are still in contention in a weak American League wild-card race.

It’s hard to have worse luck than Prielipp over his last 2 starts. The lefty has back-to-back starts with 1 earned run, but has taken the loss on his record in both outings. He now sits with a 2.88 ERA over 5 starts since his call-up on April 22. The problem for Prielipp is that Boston is currently the best team in the majors at hitting lefties.

In almost a mirror image of each other, Tolle came back to the majors on April 23 and has been lights out ever since. Like Prielipp, his team hasn’t given him much run support, as evidenced by his 2-2 record while owning a 2.05 ERA. Minnesota isn’t quite as good at hitting lefties, but they sit in the top 10.

The Red Sox are red-hot coming off their sweep over the Royals, and with Fenway Park behind Tolle and the best offensive team against lefties on Friday night, take them to get the win here.
