Mets vs Marlins Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
NY Mets Win(-125)

The New York Mets split their series with the Washington Nationals this past week, failing to make up any ground in a National League East race that is getting away from them quickly. It isn’t going to be any easier for the Miami Marlins, as they sit a half-game back of the Mets and 13 games overall. With last place in the division on the line, the Mets send Tobias Myers to the mound as an opener to start the series, while the Marlins counter with Eury Perez.

Myers has some starting experience, but the Mets have been using him primarily as a long man out of the bullpen. Most of his outings through April were 2+ innings, but they have been getting increasingly shorter in May. Carlos Mendoza hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Myers getting more starts after the Clay Holmes injury, but the Mets’ bullpen will be getting the bulk of this outing, which, surprisingly, has been one of the best groups in baseball despite all of New York’s struggles.

Perez, a former bright prospect in the Marlins organization, has steadily been getting worse over his 3 seasons in the majors. The 2026 season hasn’t been going well, as he owns a 5.33 ERA and allowed 5 earned runs in 2 of his past 3 starts — the first time he has struggled that much this season. With a successful Mets’ bullpen getting this game against a struggling Perez for the Marlins, New York should take this ugly NL East matchup.
