Money Line Pick
NY Mets Win(-155)

After a wild 12-inning affair that saw the Mets plate 10 runs in the top of the 12th, the Mets and Nationals are set to meet again on Tuesday night. Monday’s contest entered extra innings tied 5-5, but ended in a 16-7 Mets victory. The win continued some recent momentum for the Mets, who have now won 6 of their last 7 games entering Tuesday night’s contest in the nation’s capital. The offense has come alive, as the Mets have plated an average of 7.6 runs per game in that stretch. That number may be inflated by Monday’s 16-run effort, but New York has still scored at least 6 runs in 5 of its last 7 games. Given that resurgence, Washington starting pitcher Foster Griffin could have a tough assignment on his hands.

Griffin will be making just his 10th MLB start and is coming off an outing in which he allowed 7 hits and 9 earned runs over just 4.1 innings of work against the Reds. New York starter Nolan McLean has been much more reliable this season, as he has held opponents to 3 runs or fewer in all 9 of his starts. He’s done a great job of putting his team in a position to win, and he should be able to hold things down on the mound in this one. The Nationals are just 8-15 at home this season, so it’s not like home field advantage has played a huge role so far. Back the Mets.
