New York Yankees vs Kansas City Royals Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 05/25/26

The New York Yankees picked up a dramatic 2-0 victory over the Rays yesterday thanks to a walk-off two-run homer from Aaron Judge in the bottom of the ninth. Now, New York heads to Kansas City looking to build some momentum as they open a new series against the Royals.  The Royals are coming off a solid series win over the Seattle Mariners and they’ll send Michael Wacha to the mound. Wacha enters with a 4-2 record, 2.70 ERA, and a 1.03 WHIP. For the Yankees, they’ll hand the ball to Will Warren who enters with a 6-1 record, 3.61 ERA, and a 1.18 WHIP. 

Wacha has been slightly sharper over his last five starts, posting a 2.90 ERA compared to Warren’s 4.67 ERA during that same stretch. However, both offenses have struggled recently. The Yankees are averaging 3.1 runs per game and batting .220 in their last 10 matchups compared to the Royals who are averaging 2.8 runs per game and hitting .227. Both teams have also gone just 5-10 over their last 15 games. Even with Kansas City holding a slight edge on the mound, the Yankees still have the more dangerous lineup overall. One major concern for the Royals is their bullpen, which owns a 4.62 ERA this season, which could become a problem if this game remains right heading into the final innings. It’s hard to trust either team given their recent performance, but I think the Yankees will find a way to get it done on the road and pick up the win.
