The Athletics will be hosting the San Francisco Giants on Friday night to open up a three-game series. Both of these teams come into this game playing some mediocre baseball recently, both holding a 5-5 record in their last 10 games played. We have what appears to be a lopsided pitching matchup ahead of us in this game. The Athletics will be sending Aaron Civale to the mound who has been good on the year and lights-out in his last three starts. He has only given up one earned run in his last 16.0 innings pitched. The Giants are countering with Tyler Mahle, who has a 5.18 ERA in 41.2 innings this season. Mahle is coming off an outing where he gave up four earned runs in 5.2 innings, including two home runs. The two home runs are scary as he will be pitching in a ballpark on Friday that tends to give up a lot of home runs.

The Giants are the worst offensive team in the MLB, averaging only 3.3 runs per game. I am not concerned about the Athletics out-scoring them. Give me the Athletics to win Game 1 of this series.
