Rangers vs Rockies Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
TEX Rangers Win(-125)

The Colorado Rockies took the first game of the series against the Texas Rangers with a tight 7-6 victory, but it’ll be tougher for the home team on Tuesday night as they send Sammy Peralta to the mound for his season debut. The Rangers respond with Kumar Rocker, who has been struggling at times this season but bounced back in his most recent start.

Rocker went five scoreless innings his last time out, which was the first time he made it past the third inning since April. April was a much better month for the righty, and the hope for Texas is that his most recent start will get him out of the slump that he was in during his first two starts of May. If Rocker isn’t able to go deep, the Rangers’ bullpen has been one of the best in baseball this season and should pick up the slack.

Peralta is up with the Rockies for the second time this season, but it’ll be the first time that he gets into game action when he starts on Tuesday night. It has been a rough season for Peralta in the minors, and his history in the majors is subpar at best, but he’ll be in for only one or two innings before giving the ball over to long-reliever Tanner Gordon. Gordon has been better than his numbers suggest, but his ERA is a whopping 9.00 at home, thanks to a 35.6% flyball rate that puts the ball into the thin Colorado air a bit too much.

The Rangers won’t be happy with the tight loss on Monday evening, and they’ll bounce back in this one.

Rangers vs Rockies prediction: Rangers ML (-125) available at time of publishing. Playable to that number.
