San Antonio Spurs vs Oklahoma City Thunder Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 05/18/26

The matchup we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. San Antonio advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2017 after their triumph over Minnesota on Friday, but there’s no room to celebrate — the series starts as early as Monday in Oklahoma City. This will be only the 3rd time in NBA history that we have a conference finals between 2 teams with win percentages of 75% or better, and the first since 1981.

As we all know, San Antonio had the edge during the regular season, winning 4 of the 5 meetings. However, how much weight those results carry remains to be seen. I’m curious to see how Wemby and company react to having the first game on the road, as the teams split the 2 games at Paycom Center in the regular season.

Having a week off before this series starts can be a double-edged sword for the Thunder, who are undefeated at 8-0 SU this postseason. Normally, you’d want to get as much rest as possible, but there’s a very thin line between getting enough rest and rust kicking in because you haven’t played competitive basketball in some time. “Competitive” may be a loose word, as the defending champs are yet to be truly battle tested this postseason, sweeping both the Suns and Lakers without much issue. Their main concern ahead of this series will be the health of Jalen Williams, who won’t be at 100% in Game 1 as he continues to deal with that nagging hamstring injury. Facing the 3-headed monster back-court of the Spurs will be a big test for this OKC defense.

Game 1 is usually a feel-out game, and I expect that to be the case here on Monday. San Antonio has to forget about those 5 regular season games; the postseason is a completely different animal. That said, I do believe San Antonio has a chance in the opener. They’re in rhythm following a 6-game series with Minnesota, as the last 2 wins included scores of 126 and 139 points. OKC has been in hibernation for a while now, so this just might be San Antonio’s chance to steal one on the road. I’ll back the road team plus the points.
