The one small knock on him is his BB%. His 9.5 BB% this season is the highest of his career, which ranks in the bottom 33rd percentile in all of baseball.
Today he faces off against a disciplined Texas Rangers offense that ranks in the top 5 in BB% against LHP this season. In 18 games against starting left-handed pitchers, the Rangers have been walked at least two times in 14 of those games. McClanahan on the other hand has issued at least 2 free passes in nine of 13 games. The top of the order in Marcus Semien, Nathaniel Lowe and Adolis Garcia are all great candidates to walk with their 9.6 or higher BB%.
