Brooklyn Nets ML over Philadelphia 76ers (+205)

The 2-12 start is Philadelphia’s worst in over a decade when they were in the middle of the process and started a season 0-14. Tensions are high in the locker room and they also just lost Paul George to a knee injury, who will be re-evaluated in 2 weeks. On paper they are the favorites against the Nets here, but are you ready to trust them after what they’ve been through lately?

Brooklyn has been one of the more reliable teams for bettors this season, covering the spread in 10 of 15 games, including 6 of 8 on the road. They just beat the Charlotte Hornets by a single point at home and spirits will be high among their ranks as they try to win one for Ben Simmons here, who is going up against his former team. Joel Embiid did score 35 in the loss to Memphis the other day, but he also left in the middle of the game to check on his knee, so you just never know with this guy. I’m taking the underdog Nets to get our NBA parlay off to a hot start at big odds.

Dallas Mavericks +4 over Denver Nuggets (-108)

Both the Mavs and Nuggets will be without their best players, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic, which gives this game an interesting twist. We’ve all seen how poorly the Nuggets play without their big man, as their offensive rating plummets by more than 40 points when he’s not around. On the other hand, the Mavs can still rely on Kyrie Irving for playmaking in Luka’s absence, which worked pretty well in their road win at OKC a couple of games ago when Doncic wasn’t playing.

Kyrie’s numbers without Luka in the last 5 games are at 32 points and 7.5 assists per game, and might be on for another spectacular performance here as he’s already cracked the 40-point mark once this season against Denver. Just 2 points decided that first meeting and a close game would favor the road underdogs here. I like Dallas as an underdog in this one.

Sacramento Kings -2 over Los Angeles Clippers (-112)

Sacramento might be just 2-2 in their last 4 games, but the losses to Atlanta and Minnesota were by just 1 and 4 points. There is optimism that DeMar DeRozan will be back ahead of tonight’s game against his hometown team the Clippers, and that’ll be a major boost for the Kings’ offense. Meanwhile, the Clippers have finally settled into their brand-new arena with 3 wins in a row. Their latest victim was the Orlando Magic and for the 2nd consecutive game, an opponent failed to crack the 100-point mark against LA. Relying on defense to win tonight’s game could be tricky as Sacramento has the 6th-best offensive rating so far this season.

Overall, I feel like the Kings match up pretty well with the Clippers. De’Aaron Fox, who is averaging over 45 points per game in his last 3, should have his way against James Harden, who isn’t really a lockdown defender these days. DeRozan has the height advantage over Norman Powell, while Domantas Sabonis is just as good if not better than Ivica Zubac in the rebounding department. I’ll be backing the Kings to round off tonight’s NBA parlay picks, with Sacramento 4-2 ATS in their last 6 road games.
