The EPL’s return to action continues on Sunday morning and the stage could not be better set for defending champion Manchester City’s opening game against Tottenham. Tension between the two clubs has escalated dramatically over the past couple of months due to City’s attempts to sign Tottenham talisman Harry Kane, but Spurs have refused to budge. It awaits to be seen whether Kane will feature in this one, but you can be sure that both teams will be desperate to get one over on their opponent.

To add to the drama of this matchup, we’ve come up with a same game parlay that pays at nearly 24/1 odds! Let’s break it down.

Manchester City 2-1 win correct score (+700)

Son Heung-Min to score (+250)

Parlay odds: +2362

Just 2 legs in this same game parlay, but it still pays at very juicy odds. Goals look likely in this game, especially given Tottenham’s defensive issues last season, but Spurs should still be able to get on the scoresheet and Son could be the player to do it. He found the net in a preseason game against Arsenal last week and has a great record against City.

Let’s go through each of the legs in more detail, but make sure you also check out the rest of our soccer predictions for every EPL game this weekend.

Manchester City 2-1 win correct score (+700)

I’m not usually big on correct score bets, but at +700 this one feels like it’s worth going for. City’s squad talent speaks for itself, and new £100 million signing Jack Grealish should only add to their attacking threat. One interesting point I will highlight is that the Citizens have actually failed to score in each of their last 3 trips to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but all streaks come to an end and they will be going against a Spurs defense that kept just 2 clean sheets in their last 10 games. New head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is renowned for being a defensive manager, but even he should struggle to come up with a way of keeping City’s attack at bay.

I expect City to win but wouldn’t rule out Tottenham getting on the scoresheet, and with this being the first game of the season there is every chance that this contest remains a close one for the full 90 minutes. Pep Guardiola’s team should just about come out on top and a 2-1 victory seems a very possible outcome.

Son Heung-Min to score (+250)

Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min applauds the fans after The Mind Series match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London.

Son has great value to score as a standalone bet, but it really gives our same game parlay a boost when added to the mix. As mentioned, Son proved he is still a hot-shot in front of the net after scoring against Arsenal last week, and he was unfortunate not to have two goals to his name. He would have were it not for a great save from Bernd Leno. The South Korean has been superb in front of goal for Spurs for a while now, and is more than up to filling in for Harry Kane if the England striker does not play.

Furthermore, Son has a fantastic record when lining up against Manchester City. He has scored in each of Tottenham’s last 3 home games against the Citizens and has also found the net 5 times in his last 8 games against them. He relishes the chance to play City and should give the EPL champions all they can handle.
