This son of Goldencents looks a worthy favourite in the opener following a good 4-length 2nd in a 5 1/2 furlong maiden special weight at Belmont Park when making his debut at the start of last month.
Notably that effort came on a sloppy track and having shown ability on a fast surface in his morning work since, Todd Pletcher’s charge looks up to getting off the mark with Flavien Prat, his jockey at Belmont Park, booked to ride.
Big Invasion has demonstrated strong form on turf so far in his career, winning 4 of his 5 starts, including twice in stakes company. The most recent of those stakes victories came over 7 furlongs in a Listed contest at Belmont Park at the end of May.
He drew 3 1/4 lengths clear of his rivals that day but should have no issue with this shorter distance having scored by 2 lengths at Listed level over this trip at Churchill Downs on his penultimate start.
Sound Money has been performing well at a higher level, including when runner-up, beaten 5 lengths in the Grade 2 True North Stakes over 6 1/2 furlongs at Belmont Park last month.
He was a winner in an allowance optional claiming event over a mile at Aqueduct 3 starts back and any overnight rain would be no issue having placed 2nd in a Grade 3 on a sloppy main track on his penultimate start. He looks up to scoring having placed at the track in the past.
