Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Friday.

Josiah Gray (WSH) over 4.5 hits allowed (-112)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

This is a unique prop that I have been taking advantage of on FanDuel. Since this seems like it’s FanDuel exclusive, I would pivot to Houston Astros over 2.5 Team Total Runs in the 1st 5 innings on DraftKings.

Houston is coming off a series in which their offense finally came to life. They averaged more than 10 hits per game and unleashed 21 runs in the 3-game series against the Minnesota Twins.

Josiah Gray, at 24 years old, is an exciting piece for the Nationals. He was traded last season from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for Max Scherzer. This may be a humbling start for Gray against the high-powered Astros. He has allowed at least 5 hits in 3 of 5 starts this season. The Nationals may let Gray have a longer leash tonight after they only got 3.2 innings from Joan Adon and desperately need a starter to eat up innings. If we can get 5 innings from Gray, I love our chances to cash this prop tonight!

Kyle Gibson (PHI) under 4.5 Ks (-140)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Kyle Gibson has been a reliable starter for the Philadelphia Phillies since he was acquired at the trade deadline last season. In 6 starts in 2022, Gibson has a 2.94 ERA and batters are hitting .204 against him. Gibson finds unique ways to get hitters out but striking them out is not one of them. He’s tied for the 6th-most ground-ball outs in the majors and was even top 10 last year. His fastball is hovering around 91 mph this season, which ranks in the 15th percentile.

Gibson will square off against the Dodgers in Los Angeles tonight. Fellow starter Zack Wheeler looked solid in his first start since returning from the COVID-19 list. He struck out 7 batters in 5.1 innings pitched.

The Dodgers strike out at the 6th-lowest rate to right-handed pitching and with the amount of power in the lineup, Gibson may be in for a brutal start. After opening the season with 16 strikeouts in his first 2 starts, Gibson has been held under this line in 4 straight.
