The 2022 MLB season continues on Friday, and we have another exciting slate of games to watch. One of the matchups features the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels, starting at 8:10 pm ET on Apple TV+. The Astros will be looking to continue their strong form, while the Angels hope to bounce back against a division foe.

What better way to celebrate this matchup than by betting a same game parlay? We have come up with a 3-leg parlay, which would pay out at over 7/1 odds with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s take a look at each of the legs.

Houston Astros -1.5 (+130)

Christian Javier under 7.5 strikeouts (-118)

Taylor Ward to record a hit (-140)

Parlay odds: +709

LA Angels vs Houston Astros: Start time and how to watch

The Astros and Angels begin their series with a start time of 8:10 pm ET on Friday. The game is airing exclusively on Apple TV+. Let’s get into our same game parlay for this AL West matchup.

Houston Astros -1.5 (+130) over Los Angeles Angels

To start off our same game parlay, we have the Astros on the run line. Houston has been outright dominant at home this season, posting a 21-11 record at Minute Maid Park. The Astros have won 8 of their last 10 games and look well on their way to capturing another AL West title. On the other side of things, the Angels continued to be mired in mediocrity and it won’t get any easier for LA in this one. The Astros are dominant against right-handed pitching, especially the fastball. It just so happens that Angels starter Michael Lorenzen throws his 4-seam fastball the most of any pitch. Lorenzen has been extremely inconsistent this season, with his worst efforts coming on the road.

Even if Astros starter Christian Javier comes back to earth after a career-best performance in his last start, the Astros’ bullpen has been one of the best in baseball. On the other hand, the Angels bullpen should have serious trouble holding off the Houston bats. Look for the Astros to pick up where they left off with a win in this series opener.

Christian Javier under 7.5 strikeouts (-118)

Honing in on correlating results is usually helpful when constructing a same game parlay. In this case, I think that a well-pitched game from Christian Javier is in line with an Astros victory. However, this strikeout prop is inflated following a season-best performance in his last outing. Javier was outstanding against the Yankees, posting 13 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched on the road. But that performance was clearly an outlier, as the Astros starter has cleared this number in just 3 of his 14 starts this season. While the Angels strike out more than any team in baseball, I expect Javier to regress back to the mean and go under this number, while still recording a quality start. This one might be a sweat, but I’ll take my chances against a number that feels inflated.

Taylor Ward to record a hit (-140)

As a rule, including legs that may not correlate with each other always increases your odds in a same game parlay. However, I don’t think Taylor Ward having success conflicts with an Astros victory. While the Angels offense continues to struggle in big moments, Ward has been a bright spot for the Halos at the plate. Outside of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, Ward has been the Angels’ most consistent hitter, and his recent play reflects that. The outfielder is currently working on a 10-game hitting streak, and I don’t think the oddsmakers are respecting that with this line. Ward is hitting .306 against right-handed pitching this season, and I expect him to keep his hitting streak alive on Friday. Let’s back Ward to stay hot in a losing effort.
