We have a full 15-game slate on Friday to begin the weekend in Major League Baseball. There are a handful of especially intriguing series between playoff contenders getting started, and one pits the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Cincinnati Reds. Let’s take a look at the best same game parlay option for Dodgers-Reds, and be sure to also check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-110)

Walker Buehler over 6.5 strikeouts (-102)

Max Muncy to hit a home run (+300)

Parlay odds: +1004

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is the entire plan here, as Walker Buehler mowing down batters left and right in addition to Max Muncy leaving the yard would obviously go well with a Los Angeles win. Let’s break down each of the legs one by one.

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-110)

The Reds have lost 4 of their last 5 games and their only win during this stretch is a 1-0 decision against lowly Pittsburgh. Dating back to August 28, Cincinnati is 5-12 and has not won 2 games in a row at any point. Such dreadful form suddenly has this club on the outside looking in on the National League playoff picture. Adding insult to injury, the Reds now have to face Buehler and the Dodgers. Los Angeles has won 6 consecutive contests and 5 of those victories have come by multiple runs.

Walker Buehler over 6.5 strikeouts (-102)

You can get this number at a modest 6.5 because Buehler has struck out just 6 batters in his last 2 appearances. Of course, part of that has to do with the fact that he worked only 3.0 innings against the Giants on September 5. If the Dodgers are going to win tonight by multiple runs over Castillo and the Reds, chances are good Buehler will have to pitch very well. That also means he would work deep into the game, so those plays correlated nicely with each other. Cincinnati has not seen the All-Star right-hander since April 27, which should favor the pitcher as opposed to the hitters. When the Reds did go up against Buehler 5 months ago, they fanned 10 times in 6.1 innings.

Max Muncy to hit a home run (+300)

Muncy hasn’t enjoyed any success against Castillo throughout his career, but you have to think now is his best chance (and it’s also why you can get this at favorable enough +300 odds). LA’s first baseman has launched 34 homers this season to go along with 86 RBIs and a .256 average. He has gone deep in each of the last 2 contests, giving him 5 dingers in September. Castillo has surrendered 8 home runs in his last 9 starts, so don’t be surprised if Muncy gets on track in this righty-vs-lefty matchup.
