A crucial American League East contest is part of Tuesday’s 15-game schedule in Major League Baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays certainly aren’t going to win the division, but they are locked in a battle for a wild-card spot. As for the Tampa Bay Rays, the are coasting to the AL East crown but still want to wrap up home-field advantage throughout the AL playoffs. Let’s take a look at the best same game parlay option for Jays-Rays, and also be sure to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.

Toronto Blue Jays ML (-102)

Alek Manoah to record 6+ strikeouts (-220)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to hit a home run (+370)

Parlay odds: +1026

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is the entire plan here, as Alek Manoah striking out a whole bunch of batters and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. going deep would obviously work well with a Toronto win. Let’s break down each of the legs one by one.

Toronto Blue Jays ML (-102)

Despite a loss on Monday, Toronto has been one of the hottest teams in all of baseball this month. The Blue Jays head into Tuesday’s contest with a 15-4 record in September and they will hand the ball to one of the best young pitchers in the game on Tuesday. The Jays are 13-4 in Alek Manoah’s 17 starts on the year. Additionally, they have won 8 of his last 9 outings. The 23-year-old right-hander faced Tampa Bay in his last outing tossed 8.0 scoreless frames while allowing just a single hit. Manoah has one of the most powerful lineups in baseball supporting him, too. The Blue Jays have not lost back-to-back games to the same team since August 17-18 against the Nationals.

Alek Manoah to record 6+ strikeouts (-220)

They Rays simply have no chance when they face Manoah. In three games against him this season they have struck out 10, 9, and 10 times. That’s in only 18.2 innings, too. On July 9 he fanned Tampa Bay 9 times in a mere 3.2 innings of work. For the year, Manoah has recorded 102 Ks in 93.0 innings. This is obviously the safe play of the parlay, as the right-hander should reach this number by the fourth or fifth inning. He has pitched fewer than 5.0 innings only once since that July appearance against Tampa Bay.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to hit a home run (+370)

Guerrero needs a borderline miracle to lead the American League in RBIs, but the fact that he is even in the Triple Crown discussion this late in the season is incredible. The 22-year-old is tied for the lead in homers with 46 and his .321 average is the best in the business. Guerrero has gone 3 straight games without leaving the yard and while I’ve never been a big fan of the “he’s due” argument, it’s only a matter of time before he launches another one. The star DH has not endured a 4-game HR drought since Sept. 1-5.
