We have a more-than-full 17-game slate in Major League Baseball on Tuesday, thanks to a pair of double-headers. Included in the action is this showdown between the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals, which is getting same game parlay treatment. Be sure to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total, as well.

New York Yankees -1.5 (-106)

Nestor Cortes Over 3.5 strikeouts (-104)

Aaron Judge to hit a home run (+240)

Parlay odds: +940

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is the entire plan here, as Nestor Cortes racking up a fair number of strikeouts and Aaron Judge going deep would obviously work well with a Yankees win.  Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.

New York Yankees -1.5 (-106)

The Yankees made some inroads in the American League East last week, compiling a 5-2 record over those seven days. They are six games behind the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays and just two behind the rival Boston Red Sox for second place. Parlaying such momentum into this week, New York opened its series against Kansas City with an 8-6 victory in 11 innings. The visitors should feel good about their chances on Tuesday, as well. Cortes has transitioned nicely into a starting role and his team is 4-0 when he toes the rubber. The 26-year-old left-hander is posting an impressive 2.15 ERA through 37.2 innings and he has allowed just 2 home runs on the season. More of the same should continue at the expense of a light-hitting Royals offense.

Nestor Cortes Over 3.5 strikeouts (-104)

The Royals have one of the coldest offenses in baseball right now. Over the last 15 days, they are batting a mere .208 with a .607 OPS. Kansas City does not strike out much at all (897 Ks in 2021; third fewest in Major League Baseball), but that is why Cortes’ quota is all the way down at 3.5. It really isn’t too much to ask of him simply to reach the 4-mark. Cortes has mowed down 41 batters in 37.2 innings of work this season. When he faced the Royals on June 24 he recorded 5 strikeouts in just 2.2 innings.

Aaron Judge to hit a home run (+240)

Rookie left-hander Daniel Lynch is getting the start for Kansas City. While he has shown flashes of what he is capable of, he is still a young pitcher adjusting to life in the majors. This is just his seventh MLB start. Through six outings, opponents are batting .312 against Lynch and the Royals are 2-4 in those games. He has surrendered a home run in each of his last two appearances. Judge has left the yard twice in August—both in the last seven games. It helps that Lynch is a lefty, as Judge has a considerably better home-run rate against southpaws compared to righties and his batting average splits are .300 vs LHPs and .268 vs RHPs.
