The Major League Baseball weekend continues with a more-than-full 16-game schedule on Saturday (one more than usual because the Blue Jays and Red Sox are playing a double-header). The slate is also headlined by a National League West contest between the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres on FS1. Here is our Arizona vs San Diego same game parlay, and be sure to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.

San Diego Padres -2.5 (-105)

Trent Grisham to record 2+ hits (+300)

Yu Darvish under 7.5 strikeouts (-164)

Parlay odds: +948

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Trent Grisham getting at least two hits would obviously go well with a Padres win. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with taking the under on Yu Darvish’s strikeout quota. But even if Darvish doesn’t mow down opposing batters left and right, there is no reason why San Diego can’t take care of business. Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.

San Diego Padres -2.5 (-105)

There is no need to overthink this one. At worst the Padres are heading for a wild-card spot in the National League, while the Diamondbacks are the worst team in Major League Baseball by a country mile. With Darvish on the mound for San Diego, there is no reason to think an upset is in the cards on Saturday. Arizona is countering with Taylor Widener, who is 1-1 with a dreadful 5.05 ERA through nine starts this season.

Trent Grisham to record 2+ hits (+300)

Can Grisham deliver four consecutive multi-hit performances? Obviously it can’t be expected, but getting him at +300 to do so when he has already accomplished the feat three times in succession is value that is too good to pass up. The Padres’ center fielder delivered a pair of base knocks in each of his two appearances against Oakland earlier this week and he went 2-for-4 with a home run against Arizona on Friday. It also helps that Grisham is a left-handed hitter facing the right-handed Widener.

Yu Darvish under 7.5 strikeouts (-164)

Darvish is wildly inconsistent with his strikeout numbers; he can go off for double-digits, but on other days he will whiff almost no one. The 34-year-old sent 8 Rockies hitters trudging back to the dugout last weekend, but he has been limited to 6 or fewer in 3 of his last 4 starts. This stretch includes one outing with 3 Ks and another with only 2. It should also be noted that the Diamondbacks do not strike out much. Team leader Josh Rojas (91) is injured and Eduardo Escobar (second on the club with 85 strikeouts) was traded to Milwaukee prior to the deadline. As a result, no active Arizona player has fanned more than 75 times (Nick Ahmed).
