We are wrapping up the weekend in Major League Baseball with a 14-game slate on Sunday. It is highlighted by the ESPN Game of the Week between the New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics. Let’s take a look at the best same game parlay option for Yankees-A’s, and also be sure to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.

New York Yankees -2.5 alternate run line (+165)

Giancarlo Stanton to hit a home run (+310)

Brett Gardner to get a hit (-210)

Parlay odds: +961

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is the entire plan here, as Giancarlo Stanton going deep and Brett Gardner recording at least one hit would obviously work well with a Yankees win. Let’s break down each of the legs one by one.

New York Yankees -2.5 alternate run line (+165)

The Yankees had their 13-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss on Saturday. Still, New York remains the hottest team in the majors. The visitors will hand the ball to Jordan Montgomery on Sunday to oppose Paul Blackburn. In 23 starts this season, Montgomery has a 3.69 ERA, 4.09 xERA, and a 3.69 FIP. He has been even better in his last 5 trips to the mound with a 1.78 ERA and a 3.60 FIP. Across his last 25.1 innings of work, the left-hander posted a solid 1.18 WHI. Blackburn has made only 2 starts in 2021, posting a 4.09 ERA, 3.78 xERA, and a 3.71 FIP in a rather meaningless sample size of 11.0 innings. For his career he has a 5.53 ERA and a 4.34 FIP across 110.2 innings. The Yankees’ formidable lineup should be able to feast and they also boast a decisive starting pitching advantage in this game. Over the last 30 days they have the best bullpen FIP in all of baseball, as well. It is quite surprising that they are not heavier favorites in this matchup, so there is a ton of value on all of the available run lines.

Giancarlo Stanton to hit a home run (+310)

Stanton has left the yard in 4 of the last 5 games. He was finally held in check by Oakland on Saturday, but you have to like his chances of restoring order to the proceedings on Sunday. Blackburn most recently faced Seattle on Monday and gave up one dinger in 5.2 innings of work during a 5-3 loss.

Brett Gardner to get a hit (-210)

Gardner is batting .286 in August and he has a favorable matchup against the right-handed Blackburn, which is why the 38-year-old left fielder is expected to be in the starting lineup. He started on Friday in the second game of this quartet and got a hit; there is no reason why he can’t get at least one more in the finale.
