This is a spot that screams Los Angeles, as the Clippers are in the midst of a 6-game losing streak while the Mavericks are 8-2 over their last 10 games. However, I won’t be fading this Mavericks team as an underdog — especially not with the way Luka Doncic is playing. Doncic is leading the pack when it comes to MVP candidates in the NBA this season, and his recent stretch has catapulted Dallas to a top-4 seed in the Western Conference. The Mavericks now sit at 7th in offensive rating, 6th in true shooting percentage and 6th effective field-goal percentage on the season. And while the Clippers defense is still solid, Los Angeles is far from consistent on offense, sitting at 28th in offensive rating at the moment. This is not a spot where I can fade Dallas just yet. Joel Embiid is listed as questionable for this contest, which could create problems for the Sixers on offense. However, I don’t anticipate Embiid’s potential absence mattering much against this Detroit team. The Pistons have all sorts of problems at the moment. For starters, this Detroit defense is a massive issue — ranking nearly dead last in the league in defensive rating over the last few weeks. For the season, the Pistons defensive unit stands at 29th in defensive rating and they are also 2nd worst in NET rating as well. Look for James Harden, Tyrese Maxey and company to take advantage of this porous Detroit defense.
Although they will likely be missing their primary rim protector at center and the most crucial piece of their offense, the 76ers are still slightly undervalued against a poor Pistons team that has clear issues on both sides of the ball. These teams just played in Detroit, and Philadelphia picked up a pretty routine 12-point win. The Pistons are just 6-18 on the road this season and an even worse 4-19 against fellow Eastern Conference opponents. Back the Sixers to win comfortably and cover this double-digit spread in what should be a great spot to fade this awful Detroit team.

The Jazz are clearly going through hard times. Following a hot start to the season, they have crashed back down to earth — including 7 losses in their last 10 games to drop below .500 on the year. It’s clear that Utah’s early-season momentum has faltered in recent games, which could signify more poor results to come. Things won’t get any easier with the Cavaliers coming to town on Tuesday. The Cavs are fresh off a win over the reeling Suns and now get to face a Utah team that is 27th in defensive rating on the season. On the other side, Cleveland has a top-10 offense and one of the league’s best defenses by any metric you look at. I’ll lay the short number with a Cavaliers side that should have the talent and motivation edge on Tuesday.
