Good morning, Pickswise Nation. The good news is that we can quickly forget last night’s so-called NFL game with the MLB Playoffs and NHL regular season starting today, plus college football games tonight. Let’s not ever speak of Broncos vs Colts again and instead get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Colts win a terrible Thursday game
Oh no, we have to speak of the Broncos vs Colts game again already… Okay, somehow the Colts won a touchdown-free contest 12-9 after overtime. Just imagine what that looked like if you were one of the lucky folks who didn’t see it. For the record, the Colts (2-2-1) covered as 3-point underdogs and Clevta’s NFL pick of under 43.5 points was never in any danger.

Today’s Slate

MLB Playoffs are here
We have 4 MLB games today as the Wild Card series get started with Rays vs Guardians at 12:07 pm ET on ESPN. Phillies vs Cardinals and Mariners vs Blue Jays are the afternoon games before the Game 1 slate closes with Padres vs Mets at 8:07 pm ET on ESPN. Read today’s MLB predictions.

NHL season starts today
The 2022-23 NHL season starts this afternoon with a game between the Sharks and Predators in Prague (NHL Network, 2:07 pm ET). Read today’s NHL picks.

Friday night lights are on
Houston vs Memphis (ESPN2, 7:30 pm ET) and UNLV vs San Jose State (CBSSN, 10:30pm ET) are among tonight’s games in college football Week 6. Read today’s NCAAF predictions.

Best Bet of the Day

CFB: San Jose State Spartans -6.5 over UNLV Rebels
10:30 pm ET, CBSSN

The UNLV Rebels are 4-1 this season with their only loss coming against Cal, while San Jose State lost a close one to Auburn but are 3-1 and have looked like a pretty complete football team. They are averaging 367.5 yards per game, and allowing only 15.8 points per game. San Jose State is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games and playing at home. Their defense should be able to get enough stops to cover this spread. Read our full UNLV vs San Jose State predictions.
