I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

We’re getting ready for a full Sunday of NFL football and the MLB playoffs are in full swing, so the end of the weekend is jam-packed for sports fans. Let’s get into all of it!

About Last Night

Madness in college football
This college football season has truly been unlike any other. There has been an unprecedented amount of craziness at the top of the rankings, and the field seems truly wide open. That trend continued on Saturday, as Alabama was shockingly upset by Texas A&M. Elsewhere, Oklahoma benched preseason Heisman favorite Spencer Rattler while completing a stunning comeback against Texas. Iowa emerged victorious in the top-5 Big Ten battle over Penn State (mostly due to an injury to Nittany Lions quarterback Sean Clifford). It sure was a wild Week 6. Imagine telling someone before the season that Alabama would lose to Texas A&M and that Rattler would get benched.

Dodgers, Braves even up their NLDS series’
Dodgers vs Giants was the most highly anticipated first-round MLB playoff series in quite some time. Two division rivals who each won at least 106 games this season. San Francisco struck first in Game 1, but Los Angeles evened things up with a blowout win in Game 2. In Milwaukee, the Braves also evened up their NLDS series at a game apiece with a 3-0 victory. It looks like we’re going to have a couple of thrilling finishes to see who gets to face off in the NLCS. Buckle up.

Today’s Slate

MLB playoffs continue
We had two NLDS games on Saturday, and now we’ll get two ALDS games on Sunday. The Rays and Red Sox series will shift to Boston with the AL East rivals knotted at 1-1. Meanwhile, the Astros will look to close out their series against the White Sox and finish up the sweep. Both games are expected to be tight. DraftKings has Rays/Red Sox as -105/-115, and Astros/White Sox as +105/-125, so we could be in for a couple nail-biters. Make sure to check out our free picks on the side and total for both of the big games.

NFL Week 5 is here
Nothing beats Sundays this time of year. The first four weeks of the NFL season have been thrilling, so hopefully Week 5 can live up to those lofty standards. Week 5 will mark the return of the London games, with the Jets taking on the Falcons in an extra standalone spot. We didn’t get any London games last year due to COVID-19, so this one will be especially cool. In the afternoon slate we’ve got a fun AFC clash between the Browns and Chargers, and the starting debut of Trey Lance as the 49ers visit the Cardinals. For the second week in a row, Sunday Night Football will feature one of most highly anticipated games of the entire season, as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Buffalo Bills in a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game. Before locking in your card, take a look at our expert predictions for every NFL Week 5 game.

Best Bet of the Day

Dolphins @ Buccaneers under 48
1:00pm ET

Our best bet in this column last week was the under in Seahawks/49ers, and it cashed. Now we’re going right back to the well with another under, this time in Dolphins/Buccaneers. Sure Tampa has injuries in their secondary, but Miami isn’t the team to take advantage. Especially not with Will Fuller out of the lineup due to a finger injury. The Dolphins have one of the league’s worst offensive lines, and Jacoby Brissett isn’t going to challenge teams vertically anyway. On the other side of the ball–the Bucs will once again be playing without Rob Gronkowski, which is a big blow to their offense. Dolphins head coach Brian Flores was also Tom Brady’s defensive coordinator for a while in New England, so he should have some idea of how to slow him down. What better way to celebrate an NFL Sunday than by going for a big payday? We have a three-leg mega parlay, which pays out north of 19/1! Stat of the Day

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones only averaged 7.2 yards per attempt or more three times all season in 2020. This season? He’s done it in all four games. Jones has taken a big step forward in his third year as a pro, and that’s a large part of why we like New York in Week 5.

Boost of the day

Cardinals -5.5 (+120)

FanDuel Sportsbook is offering a really nice odds boost if you like the Cardinals. You can bet Arizona at their normal spread, but you’ll get +120 for doing it instead of the normal -110.
