Happy Thursday, Pickswise Nation! We’ve got a HUGE Game 6 in the NBA Finals tonight where the Warriors can win the championship or the Celtics can take us to a Game 7. Elsewhere, we have the 2022 U.S. Open teeing off today along with a solid slate of MLB action. Let’s get into making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Avs edge Lightning in overtime
The Stanley Cup Finals got started with a nailbiter as the Avalanche secured an overtime win to take Game 1. Colorado had burst into an early 3-1 lead in the 1st period before Tampa fought back to tie it up 3-3. However, the Avs showed their quality in overtime to secure the victory. Colorado is now a -270 favorite to lift the Stanley Cup, with the Lightning available at +230 to three-peat.

Dodgers win battle of LA while Padres go wild
The Dodgers beat the Angels 4-1 last night to sweep their mini-series in the battle of Los Angeles, which also secured a win for our expert’s best prop of Anderson 4+ Ks and a Dodgers victory. Elsewhere, the Padres showed no mercy against the Cubs as they crushed them 19-5.

Today’s Slate

Warriors look to finish Celtics in NBA Finals Game 6
Game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Warriors and Celtics takes place at TD Garden tonight. If the Warriors win, they will be NBA champions for the 4th time since 2015. If the Celtics win, then we head back to Golden State for a Game 7 with it all on the line. Read our Warriors vs Celtics preview.

2022 U.S. Open gets started
The 3rd golf major of the year gets underway today with the 2022 U.S. Open. Pickswise’s golf analyst Diane Knox Balas is in great form after hitting a 10/1 winner with Rory McIlroy last week. Can she follow up with another big win this week? Read Diane’s picks for the U.S. Open.

Moving day in MLB
It’s a slightly smaller slate of baseball action than usual today with 9 games on the docket and 4 of them being in the afternoon. The A’s get things started against the Red Sox while the Angels wrap things up against the Mariners, with LA bidding to get back on track after those Dodgers defeats. We’re 20-11 on MLB ML picks the past 2 days, so check out today’s MLB game previews.

Royal Ascot horse racing continues
Day 3 of the Royal Ascot horse racing festival continues across the pond in England, starting at 9:30 am ET with the last race at 1:10 pm ET. Our experts hit 3 winners yesterday, so don’t miss their picks for today’s action.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies vs Washington Nationals Over 9
7:05 pm ET

These are 2 of the best teams for overs this season, with the Phillies being the absolute best and the Nationals close behind in 3rd. Even when the Phillies dominate the opposition, they can go over the total as they’ve had multiple 10-0 wins this month alone. They also haven’t had back-to-back games with under 5 runs since the middle of May. That is a ridiculous stretch, and they now get to face a struggling left-handed pitcher to continue that streak. Given the great matchup against Corbin and a poor Nats bullpen, expect Philly to do the majority of the damage. The Nats may be struggling, but they still have power with Nelson Cruz and Juan Soto to contribute to the total. Read our full game preview for Phillies vs Nationals.
