Both the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins are coming off games in the London series as they prepare to face each other on Sunday in Miami. A key difference, of course, is that the Falcons enjoyed a bye in Week 6. The Dolphins, on the other hand, are getting right back in action after playing at Tottenham Stadium this past weekend. Another difference: the Falcons won (beat the Jets 27-20 in a contest that was not as close as the score suggests), whereas the Dolphins lost to the previously winless Jaguars 23-20.

And that is not where the good news ends for the Falcons–at least when it pertains to this matchup. Receivers Calvin Ridley (personal) and Russell Gage (ankle) are back. Even without them, Matt Ryan torched the Jets for 342 passing yards. Think what he can do to a Miami defense that is fourth worst in the NFL against the pass. For the Dolphins, receivers DaVante Parker and Preston Williams are questionable plus Will Fuller V is on injured reserve. The Fins are 1-5, including 0-2 at home. Tua Tagovailo is good to go at the moment but he has been unspectacular at best in two games. Atlanta is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 against opponents with losing records and 4-1 ATS in its last five on the road against opponents with losing home records. The Dolphins are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Go with the Falcons.

As mentioned above, this is not a good matchup for Miami’s defense against a pass-happy Atlanta squad. Adding insult to injury (or vice versa), Dolphins cornerbacks Xavien Howard and Byron Jones are questionable. Miami has allowed at least 23 points on each stop of its current five-game losing streak, including more than 30 three times–and 45 against Tampa Bay. On the bright side for the Fins, Tagovailoa should not be under too much pressure on Sunday. Atlanta’s pass rush is once again anemic, ranking fourth-to-last in the league with 9 sacks. The over is 23-11-1 in the Falcons’ last 35 against opponents with losing records. It is also 4-0 in the Dolphins’ last four after allowing more than 350 yards of total offense in their previous outing. Take the over.
