College Football Week 4 Best Bets: Saturday, September 26

It's been an exciting first few weeks of college football, and the season is set to kick into another gear this weekend with an absolutely loaded slate on Saturday. With a jam-packed 12 hours of college football ahead of us, it’s time to get into the Week 4 schedule with my weekly CFB best bets piece. We are off to an 11-3 start in the column on the young season, so let's keep the momentum going!

With the weeknight slate behind us, it's time to turn our attention to Saturday's massive card. Let’s take a look at my CFB best bets for Saturday, while you can also find all of our expert CFB picks for this weekend’s action and every FBS game throughout the year.

CFB Best Bet: Florida Gators ML over Ole Miss Rebels (-145)

Few matchups across the college football landscape are more impactful than this weekend's clash between Ole Miss and Florida. Both teams are coming off impressive victories, as the Gators controlled the game against Auburn from start to finish on the road, while the Rebels just won their Super Bowl — exacting some revenge on Lane Kiffin and LSU with a 32-24 victory in the Magnolia Bowl. It's hard to quantify the level of stress and preparation that went into that game, and I highly doubt that Ole Miss will have an emotional release for the rest of the season that compares to what we saw in the moments after the clock struck zero. With that in mind, this has created a pretty obvious hangover spot that the market is pricing into this number. It won't be cheap to back Florida this week, but the Gators are the right side in this SEC showdown.

There isn't much that separates these teams, and Florida might actually be the more complete overall unit from top to bottom. Led by offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, the Gators offense has been a well-oiled machine through their first few games, and I see no reason for that to stop here against a middling Ole Miss defense. Aaron Philo has proven himself to be a competent quarterback, while Jadan Baugh is arguably the best running back in the nation and leads a very dynamic skill position group in Gainesville. On the other side of the ball, Florida's defense has been a solid unit to this point, and that includes a couple of games against above average offenses (FAU and Auburn). Trinidad Chambliss and the Ole Miss offense is certainly the best unit that Florida will have faced to this point, but the Rebels could be without star running back Kewan Lacy in this one; that doesn't bode well for Pete Golding's group in what is already a pretty brutal hangover spot on the road.

CFB Best Bet: Oregon Ducks team total over 32.5 vs USC Trojans (-105)

Few teams have been more disappointing compared to preseason expectations than Oregon, and the line for this potential College Football Playoff elimination game was severely adjusted as a result. With the Ducks taking a ton of money since the open and now sitting as three-point favorites, I can't there with laying the points on the road. However, I don't have much confidence in Lincoln Riley's team in a big spot, especially after what I've seen in recent weeks. With that in mind, I'll go hunting in the derivative market and take a shot with Oregon to exceed its team total.

The full game total sits at 62.5 for this Big Ten showdown, and it makes complete sense given how both defenses have looked to this point. The good news for Dante Moore and this Oregon offense is they should get plenty of possessions against a USC defense that just allowed 30 points to Louisiana and 35 points to Rutgers following a couple of decent showings to start the season. Gary Patterson's unit has failed to create pressure on opposing quarterbacks, which is exactly what the doctor ordered for a Ducks offensive line that has struggled to protect Moore in obvious passing situations thus far. Despite struggling on a down-to-down basis against Oklahoma State, Oregon has generated plenty of explosive plays this season — and quick scores are ideal for this wager. Ultimately, I believe the Ducks salvage their season and get this done on the road, but I'm a bit more confident in their ability to put up points in what should be a shootout in Los Angeles.

CFB Best Bet: Oklahoma Sooners vs Georgia Bulldogs Under 45 (-110)

This was expected to be a showcase game in the SEC prior to the season, but now it feels a bit anticlimactic given Oklahoma's recent struggles. To his credit, Kirby Smart has done an excellent job with getting his team to play focused, consistent football in the nonconference portion of the schedule — something that Georgia has somewhat struggled with in the past. The same can't be said for Oklahoma, as Brent Venables' team has struggled mightily over its first three games, particularly on offense. The Sooners hoped that their offensive line would bounce back after a myriad of injuries in 2025, but Oklahoma is still unable to run the ball. Turnovers have also been an issue for John Mateer and company, particularly in their loss to Michigan in Week 2.

Following another extremely poor showing against New Mexico last week — in which Oklahoma finished with just 14 points and failed to create any separation against a Lobos team that was down to their third string quarterback in that contest — the Sooners' offense is rewarded with a matchup against a Georgia defense that is among the best in the nation in a myriad of categories. Simply put, I'm not sure where the points are coming from with Oklahoma, especially if the last few weeks are anything to go by. We can say something similar for Georgia's run-heavy offense against a Sooners defense that is still elite and should come to play in a desperate spot. All things considered, I'll roll with the under in this clash of excellent SEC defenses.
