Bassitt has posted a 5.44 ERA through his first 43 innings as an Oriole. His performance has been far stronger in his home park, however, posting a 2.91 ERA in 21.2 innings. Bassitt’s 2 most recent starts at home were his best of the season, tossing 6 innings of 1-run ball against the Athletics and 6.2 innings of 1-run ball against the Astros. Now he will face a Detroit offense ranking just 21st in wOBA with a 97 wRC+. Look for Bassitt to avoid barrels and keep his team in the game.

Jack Flaherty is scheduled to start this game for the Tigers. Flaherty has had a rough go of it in 2026, posting a 5.77 ERA in his first 43.2 innings. The right-hander is walking a ton of batters and failing to generate any ground balls. That is a poor combination when ranking just 39th percentile in whiff rate. Flaherty has struggled both at home and on the road, and both handedness of batter is mashing him. Baltimore ranks 14th in wOBA against righties with a 103 wRC+. Detroit has lost the last 6 Flaherty starts and I look for that trend to continue on Friday.
