The Toronto Blue Jays are utilizing Mason Fluharty as an opener for their bullpen game on Saturday. Fluharty has been a one-inning reliever this season and I wouldn’t expect his role to deviate too much in this matchup. Eric Lauer was designated for assignment to make room for Yariel Rodriguez to join the MLB club. I would assume Rodriguez is used as the bulk arm for this game, and we should expect a longer leash this time for the right-hander. They face a Tigers offense that ranks 12th in wOBA against right-handed pitching with a 104 wRC+. Detroit is right around league average against lefties as well.

Casey Mize is the scheduled starter for Detroit in this game. Mize has been activated off the IL following a thigh injury that resulted in him leaving his last outing early. Mize had been pitching well for Detroit, tossing 31 innings with a 2.90 ERA prior to injury. Detroit is currently without Tarik Skubal and the rest of their rotation has been inconsistent. They will look for Mize to return to his form and I do favor Detroit in this matchup on Saturday.
