I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. We’ve hit 3 of our last 5 player props, but let’s be better tonight. It’s always a beautiful thing when we have a full 13-game NHL slate. However, that can also make it overwhelming trying to decide the best matchups to target. That also holds true for the player prop market. Thankfully, we’re here for you to do just that. Not only have we broken down each matchup, player props also allow us to profit without having to worry about who wins or loses a game. There are a lot of games to sort through, but we’ve come up with the best player props for tonight’s slate. Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Let’s take a closer look at my 2 favorite player props.

Mats Zuccarello over 0.5 assists (-140)

The Minnesota Wild get to remain at home after their beatdown of the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. That bodes well for plenty of goals for the Wild, as they’re averaging 4 goals per game at home so far this season. They’ve needed to keep that pressure up, as goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has not been consistent this season. One of the key skaters that has been keeping them in those high-scoring games has been Mats Zuccarello. He may not have the same name recognition as Kirill Kaprizov, but he’s a stud.

First and foremost, the right winger is filling the shoes of Kevin Fiala, who is now with the Los Angeles Kings. So far he’s done well, already recording 12 points this season. The right winger is now on the top line alongside Kaprizov, hence why he has 7 assists thus far. Zuccarello is no stranger to dishing out apples to the star left winger either. He had 55 of them last season. Now he gets to face a Seattle Kraken team that has not impressed on the road.

The Kraken have had some impressive upsets this season, but they have struggled outside of the Pacific Northwest. The Kraken just allowed 4 goals in Calgary, lost in Chicago by allowing 5 goals to the Blackhawks, and even lost to the lowly Ducks after giving up 5 goals in Anaheim. Now they have to deal with a high-flying Minnesota team that can truly run wild. Zuccarello has been a key piece in that so far, and there’s no reason to believe that will change tonight.

Matthew Tkachuk over 0.5 assists (-120)

We’re going to follow up our first play with a skater with a similar first name and another unique last name. If you’ve been following our props even dating back to last season, you’ll recognize him. However, Matthew Tkachuk is now on the Florida Panthers after his time with Calgary Flames. He’s fit in perfectly, already recording 13 points and 8 assists, both of which lead the team. That’s even more impressive given the Panthers are known for their offense after finishing last season averaging the most goals per game in the NHL. They’ll be out to bounce back from quite an embarrassing loss to the Arizona Coyotes the last time they took the ice.

Prior to that game, they looked incredible against the Ottawa Senators, with Tkachuk scoring a goal and recording 2 assists. It seems the beginning of their west coast road trip caught them out of sorts, but they should be settled in by now. That’s bad news for a San Jose Sharks team that began their season 0-5-0. They’re hardly much better at 3-8-1, and their goaltending hasn’t been particularly great. The Sharks just allowed 6 goals at home to the Ducks, one of the worst teams in the league. If the sinking Ducks can snipe down the Sharks, Tkachuk can repeat his success against San Jose from last season. He had 5 assists in 4 games against them, and he should start up right where he left off tonight.
