Friday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
The Twins only managed to tie the Hanwha Eagles on Thursday in a game that ended 1-1. The Twins have long clinched the postseason, but were trying to make a run for the top seed. That is unlikely to happen now as they are 1.5 games behind the top seed with only 2 games remaining. The Twins will start Im Chan-Kyu, who is 1-8 on the season and has an ERA of 4.08.
The Giants lost again on Thursday to the Kia Tigers 5-3. They have already been eliminated from the postseason, so these final 2 games will mean nothing. They will counter with Dan Straily, who is 10-11 with an ERA of 4.15.
The Twins know they are in the playoffs, but will want to win to add extra pressure on the teams above them in the standings. Chan-Kyu might not have a good record, but he is slightly better than Straily, so backing the Twins will be the play.
This is one of the more important games on Friday, at least for one of the teams involved. The Samsung Lions are tied atop the standings with the KT Wiz and these final 2 games will determine who will get a free bye into the Korean Series. The Lions will start Baek Jung-Hyun, who is 14-4 on the year and has an ERA of 2.57.
The Dinos will only be looking to play spoiler here as they have been eliminated from the postseason. They will counter with Drew Rucinski, who has been one of their better starters this season. He is 14-10 on the year and has an ERA of 3.28.
Even knowing that the Dinos are starting one of their best pitchers, the Lions’ starter still looks better. The Lions are playing to try and clinch the top seed, so backing them will be the play.
We are down to just 2 days left in the regular season and the top seed looks like it will be decided in the final day. The KT Wiz won 1 game in the doubleheader on Thursday and tied the other, so they are now tied for the top spot in the league. They will start Odrisamer Despaigne, who is 13-9 on the season and has an ERA of 3.29.
The Kiwoom Heroes, on the other hand, did not play on Thursday. They are in a battle for the playoffs, trailing the final spot by 1 game with 2 games to play. It is also worth noting that if the Heroes do not win this game on Friday, they will be eliminated from the postseason. The Heroes will start Han Hyun-Hee, who is 5-2 on the season and has an ERA of 3.95.
Even though this is a must win game for the Heroes, Despaigne has been too strong overall. He is one of the better pitchers for the KT Wiz, so backing them will be the play.
