The Major League Baseball season has started with a bang as the new rules have created more excitement and made the game much quicker. With a full slate taking place on Sunday, I have looked through today’s MLB games and found 3 picks that combine for a +806 payout at FanDuel Sportsbook.

To start off our mega parlay, we’re going with the Cubs on the run line. Chicago has been up-and-down this season, but the Cubs will have a tremendous advantage on the mound in this one. Justin Steele will get the ball and he’s been absolutely terrific this season, posting an ERA of 1.19 to go along with excellent metrics in xSLG, barrel rate, hard-hit rate and average exit velocity. On the other side, the Cubs offense will take a crack at Bryan Hoeing, who holds an ERA of 9.82 and xERA of 7.35 after a rocky first outing to start the season. While Hoeing should pitch better in his second outing of the season, it’s hard to imagine Steele floundering against this poor Marlins lineup. I’ll take a shot with the Cubs in this spot.

This game was rained out on Saturday, but I’m going right back to the well with the same pitching matchup on tap. Atlanta has clearly established itself as one of the best teams in baseball, and its mastery of the Mets continued with a 4-0 win on Friday at Citi Field. Now the Braves will send Spencer Strider to the mound and he is currently the NL Cy Young favorite and one of the best pitchers in baseball. With an ERA of 1.80 ERA and terrific advanced metrics across the board, Strider should have a clear edge against a New York lineup that has only tallied 10 runs across its last 4 home games — 3 of which came against the lowly Nationals. The Braves’ lineup should handle their business against Tylor Megill (6.49 xERA), so I’m expecting another convincing win for Atlanta on Sunday.

For the final leg in this mega parlay, I’m going with the Rays on the run line. These teams are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum this season, and that’s certainly shown in the results. Tampa Bay is undefeated against the White Sox this season over their first 5 meetings, much like the Rays have been doing to the entirety of Major League Baseball. Now, they’ll get the pleasure of taking on Mike Clevinger, who holds an xERA of 5.59 and has allowed 13 earned runs and 21 hits over his last 3 outings this season. Clevinger’s xERA, walk rate and whiff rate are all within the bottom 20 percentile among qualified pitchers, so the Rays offense should tee off on the veteran right-hander. Look for Tampa Bay to jump out to an early lead and never look back in this one.
