Boston Celtics ML (-156)

I know this bet is a bit counterintuitive given that the Celtics haven’t shown us enough reason to believe in them after those poor performances in Games 1 and 2, but I’m not able to write them off just yet. Miami will be feeling good about themselves the rest of the way, but is this series already over like some people are saying? I’m not so sure about that. The Celtics are surely too good to get swept. At the start of this series I thought it would go at least 6 or 7 games and I still believe that. In order for that to happen, the Celtics have to wake up. I’m not losing faith in them, and they did win once in Miami during the regular season. In the last 5 meetings at Kaseya Center they’ve covered the spread 4 times. I’ll go with the road team to win Game 3.

Malcolm Brogdon to score 15+ points (+100)

The struggles of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been well documented in this series. In Game 2 they made just 1 field goal between them in the 4th quarter, and it’s hard to win when your best players aren’t showing up in the clutch. Thankfully they have Malcolm Brogdon to step up, who is one of the most underrated offensive players in the NBA. The 6th man of the year is averaging 16.7 points per game in his last 7 outings, while shooting over 47% from the field and 34.4% from three. He shot the lights out from deep during the 3 regular-season meetings with Miami, knocking down 58.3% of his attempts. Dating back to the closeout game against Atlanta, he has cleared this line 7 times in his last 10 games. The Celtics rotation has gone down to basically 7 players, so I think Brogdon will get at least 12-14 shot attempts today, which should be enough for him to get 15 points.

Al Horford over 1.5 made threes (-113)

The Heat have done a great job of neutralizing Al Horford so far, and he has made just 1 three on 8 attempts through 2 games. With the series now moving to South Beach for the next 2 games I’m expecting the veteran to be more locked in, as the Celtics’ season is pretty much on the line. In the previous series against the 76ers he averaged 1.6 threes made, and after failing to clear this line in the opening 2 games at home, he went into Games 3 and 4 in Philadelphia and scored 5 and 2 threes. That kind of response would give the Celtics a massive boost, they just haven’t had the necessary boost from their role players and it has cost them. Miami’s 3-point defense has been stellar over their last 3 games, but let’s not forget they allowed a higher percentage of made threes at home (36.4%) compared to the road (35.7%) during the regular season. Since joining Boston, Horford has played the Heat 6 times during the regular season and has knocked down at least 2 threes in 4 of those games. He’s also faced them 8 times in the postseason and he failed to make a three in only one of those games, while averaging 1.3 per game on 32.3%. I think it’s time Horford finally wakes up and helps the Celtics get back into this series.
