There are just 3 games on the ice tonight, so it’s not a very important day in the NHL, right? That couldn’t be further from the truth. The New York Islanders are fighting for their postseason lives. The New Jersey Devils are trying to earn the top spot in the Metropolitan Division. The defending Stanley Cup champions — the Colorado Avalanche — are simply trying to maintain a top-3 spot in the Central Division. As you can see, there is importance in each matchup tonight. So, we’ve found the most valuable ways to target each one that provides you with an incredible payout. Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

New York Islanders 3-way ML (-130) over Columbus Blue Jackets

This matchup features 2 Metro Division teams, but that’s about all they have in common. The Islanders look set to be one of the Eastern Conference Wild Card teams, while the Jackets have been at the bottom of the entire NHL for much of the season. In fact, Columbus currently has the best odds to have the #1 pick in the upcoming NHL Draft, or in other words, the Connor Bedard sweepstakes.

New York isn’t a team known for offense, but with the Jackets allowing the 4th-most goals per game, we’re still comfortable backing them to win this game comfortably. If there was ever a time to trust the Isles’ offense, it’s now. They just torched a great Toronto Maple Leafs team 7-2, and they’ve scored 17 goals across their last 3 games. Meanwhile, the Jackets have scored the 4th-fewest goals per game. With an elite goaltender in Ilya Sorokin in net for New York, we’ll trust them to get the job done, even on the road.

New Jersey Devils -1.5 (+145) over Buffalo Sabres

Another playoff-bound Metro Division team is the Devils. They even still have a chance to win the division as they try to chase down the Carolina Hurricanes. They have a great opportunity to inch closer when facing the Sabres tonight. Buffalo is clinging on to hope for a postseason spot, but they’d need nothing short of a miracle at this point. That’s primarily been due to their horrific goaltending.

They’ve allowed 7 goals in back-to-back games, both of which were at home. It hasn’t just been recently that they’ve struggled on defense. Prior to that, they allowed 5 goals in back-to-back games, including a matchup against a weak Philadelphia Flyers team. To finish off that point, the Sabres are the only team in the NHL to allow more than 4 goals per game since the start of 2023. Clearly, the Devils have the firepower to exploit that weakness. They score the 6th-most goals per game and with the addition of Timo Meier at the trade deadline, we expect a convincing win tonight.

Colorado Avalanche ML over Arizona Coyotes & Over 6.5 (+130)

To round out our NHL mega parlay we’re focusing on the nightcap game. Like our first play, these are 2 teams in the same division but are on complete opposite trajectories. The Avs are looking to win back-to-back Stanley Cups, while the Coyotes have been one of the worst teams in the league for a while now. This game will also be in Colorado before these teams meet again on Sunday in the desert.

The Avs are always a strong team at home, despite their recent loss. This should be an ideal bounce-back spot for them. Colorado is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games and is within striking distance of snatching the Central Division crown before the season ends. It’s true they haven’t been as dominant this season, but they have far more talent than Arizona with the likes of Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. Even if they continue to let Cale Makar heal, we’re still comfortable backing them to take tonight’s matchup without much trouble.
