UFC on ESPN 32 main card best bets

Katlyn Chookagain vs Jennifer Maia – Fight to end by unanimous decision (-150)

This fight is a rematch from November 2019, a fight which Katlyn Chookagain won by unanimous decision. Of her 7 UFC fights, 6 have ended by unanimous decision for Jennifer Maia, while 8 of Chookagain’s 13 UFC fights have ended the same way. This fight is likely to be one-sided again, so backing a unanimous decision outcome is the play.

Bill Algeo vs Joanderson Brito ML (-135)

Joanderson Brito comes into this fight with an MMA record of 12-2-1. He is 1-0 in the UFC, most recently beating Diego Lopes by unanimous decision in August 2021. This was a Dana White’s Contender Series event, so this will be his official UFC debut. Brito is averaging 4.31 significant strikes per minute and has a striking accuracy of 59%. He is absorbing 1.96 strikes and has a striking defense of 50%. His grappling has been more than solid, averaging 4.41 takedowns every 15 minutes. His takedown accuracy is 75% and he was not taken down in that lone Contender Series Event.

There is some concern with Bill Algeo because he has just 1 win in the UFC. His grappling is not great, so while he has the better striking, Brito could control this fight on the ground. It may be his UFC debut, but Brito looks to be the right side here, so backing him to win will be the play.

UFC on ESPN 32 preliminary card best bets

Jamie Pickett vs Joseph Holmes ML (-135)

Joseph Holmes comes into this fight with an MMA record of 7-1. He is 1-0 in the UFC, most recently beating Shonte Barnes by submission in October 2021. That lone win in the UFC came in a Dana White’s Contender Series event, so this will be his official UFC debut. He is averaging 1.55 significant strikes per minute and has a striking accuracy of 32%. He is absorbing 2.32 strikes and has a striking defense of 62%. His grappling has looked much better, averaging 3.86 takedowns per every 15 minutes and 1.9 submission attempts during the same time period. His takedown accuracy is 40% and his takedown defense is 100%.

While this may be Holmes’ UFC debut, he has the clear edge on the ground. He might not win a stand-up fight, but he can grapple much more effectively, which is why backing him will be the play here.
