Good morning, Pickswise Nation! Welcome back to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today. An entertaining Sunday should be on the menu, as we have two more NFL preseason games plus a close-to-full Major League Baseball slate in addition to English Premier League action. Let’s dive in and see what’s cooking!

About Last Night

Another MLB prop winner
Pickswise handicapper John Hyslop is now 6-0 in his last six MLB player prop picks–including 4 of the 6 at plus money. Saturday’s play was on Cleveland starter Triston McKenzie to record over 5.5 strikeouts against the Angels at -110. McKenzie had no trouble mowing ’em down, as he worked 7.0 innings of 1-run baseball and finished with 8 Ks. John will be back with at least one more prop today, but for now check out our three-team mega parlay.

NFL handicapping success includes another Ravens win
Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven…not 17, not 18…. No, the Ravens have now won 19 preseason games in a row. Their 20-3 victory over the Panthers tied them for the all-time record in the preseason winning streak department. That was one of Pickswise’s 8 ATS/ML victories on Sunday compared to only 2 losses–1 of which was an especially bad beat, as the Raiders (-6.5) led the Rams 17-10 only to give up a touchdown with 15 seconds remaining before holding on 17-16. Read all of our picks for today’s NFL preseason games here.

Today’s Slate

NFL Preseason Week 2 continues
The Giants, Browns, 49ers, and Chargers will all be taking the field on Sunday. Action kicks off with Cleveland hosting New York before San Francisco pays a visit to Los Angeles. Both the Browns and Chargers are looking to improve to 2-0 in the preseason. Have a look at our Sunday and Monday NFL parlay, which pays out at +597 odds.

MLB: 14 games (hopefully)
The Yankees vs Twins game in New York has already been postponed because of Hurricane Henri heading toward the northeast. If there are no other weather issues, 28 of the 30 Major League Baseball teams will be in action. The schedule includes the Sunday Night Game of the Week on ESPN between the Angels and Indians at 7:00pm ET. Make sure you read our predictions for all of today’s baseball.

EPL weekend wraps up in style
Week 2 of the 2021-22 English Premier League season is underway and it continues with a trio of matches on Sunday. Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs taking the pitch. You don’t want to miss our Arsenal-Chelsea same game parlay, plus you can read our picks for every weekend Premier League game here.

No horsing around
Saturday was another day that saw us in the green on horse racing. We have hit 23 winners in our last 54 races, profiting 31.2 units during this hot stretch. Check out today’s best bets at Saratoga race track.

Best Bet of the Day

Atlanta Braves ML (-154) over Baltimore Orioles
1:05pm ET

No team in Major League baseball is hotter than the Braves right now. No team is worse than the Orioles this season. Put that combination together and what you get is the best bet of the day. It’s not rocket science; it’s just smart betting. Atlanta is on an 8-game winning streak, is 15-2 in its last 17, and is facing an opponent that is a laughable 38-84. Be sure to check out our full game preview for this matchup.

Stat of the Day

The Marlins are a ridiculous 21-43 on the road this season–including three consecutive losses to begin their current series in Cincinnati. That record is especially alarming when you consider they are actually decent at home (right at .500 with a 30-30 mark). The Reds -1.5 against the Marlins is one of our best MLB bets of the day.

Must-read

When there are only two games on the docket, it’s worth going in depth in each one. That is what Pickswise handicapper Andrew Ortenberg has done with Sunday’s pair of NFL contests. Here are his best bets for Sunday’s preseason action. Don’t forget you can find more of this weekend’s great betting content on the Analysis tab.
