Since graduating from Davidson (The College That Stephen Curry Built), I have been writing about sports -- just about any and all you can think of! -- and coaching tennis in Atlanta, GA. Beyond the four major sports, I am an avid tennis fan and cover the ATP Tour on a daily basis. If I'm not busy writing, you can generally find me on a tennis court or traveling the world wherever a sporting event takes me. For Ricky Dimon media enquiries, please email contact@pickswise.com.

The NBA all-star break has come to a merciful end. With the professional hoopers back on the court, there is plenty of sports action and betting options to discuss on Thursday. As such, let’s not waste any time and get right to making your next bet better. Here is our latest installment of Wise n’ Shine!

About Last Night

Parlay gut-punch in the NHL
Following easy wins for Colorado and Montreal, we needed only a Winnipeg victory to cash both our +366 parlay and +1070 mega parlay. The Jets forced overtime against the Stars but ultimately went down 3-2. Meanwhile, the Lightning got goals from 5 different players to beat the Oilers 5-3.

Providence works overtime(s) for 13th Big East win
Providence needed not 1, not 2, but 3 overtimes to subdue Xavier. The Friars improved to 13-2 in the Big East by prevailing 99-92. Needless to say it was a sweat, but our best bet of Providence -1.5 was successful.

Today’s Slate

NBA returns with a doubleheader on TNT
The first night back since the All-Star Game features a 7-game schedule that is headlined by a doubleheader on TNT. It begins with the Nets hosting the Celtics before the Warriors visit the Trail Blazers. The Cavaliers, Bulls, Grizzlies, Suns, and Nuggets are also in lacing up their sneakers. Head over to our NBA picks page to see all of our previews and predictions.

Tough tests for Gonzaga and UCLA
Both No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 12 UCLA have to go on the road to face worthy opponents on Thursday. The Zags tip off against San Francisco (9-5 in the WCC), while UCLA visits Oregon (10-6 in the Pac-12). Thursday’s college basketball slate also pits No. 22 Ohio State against No. 15 Illinois. Check out all of our CBB picks.

Wild-Leafs, Caps-Rangers headline NHL schedule
There are 8 games in the NHL on Thursday and 2 are especially intriguing. Minnesota (31-14-3) is paying a visit to Toronto (32-14-4) before Washington (28-15-9) travels north to meet the Rangers (32-13-5). You can find all of our hockey coverage on the NHL page.

Best Bet of the Day

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Florida Panthers Over 6.5
7:00 pm ET, ESPN+

Both the Blue Jackets and Panthers have recently been trending as teams that cash in on the over. In each of their last 7 games, the over has hit in 6 of them. In that same 7-game span, the Blue Jackets are averaging 4.42 goals per game while the Panthers are averaging 4.71. Neither team has the defense to stop the other’s offense, as was evident by the 8-4 score the last time these 2 played about a month ago. With both clubs ranking in the bottom half of most major defensive categories, expect numerous goals and place your bet on the over with confidence. Read our full game preview for Blue Jackets vs Panthers.

Must-read

The NBA is back, and 2008 NBA champion Brian Scalabrine has given his best mid-season futures bets and views. As for tonight specifically, we have already dropped a +1142 mega parlay. We’re also looking to build on last week’s incredible 19/1 and 18/1 same game parlay winners by focusing on Celtics-Nets and Warriors-Blazers.

We are also continuing the buildup to the 2022 MLB campaign with our team preview of the Houston Astros.

Stat of the Day

The Grizzlies are an awesome 21-9 SU on the road this season, including 21-8-1 ATS. That could be bad news for the host Timberwolves, who are 1-2 SU/ATS in this head-to-head matchup so far in 2021-22.

Boost of the Day

Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. to combine for 60+ points and rebounds
Boosted to +105 with DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings Sportsbook is celebrating the Grizzlies-Timberwolves showdown by boosting the odds on Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. combining for at least 60 points and rebounds from -110 to +105.
