Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

It’s time for the playoffs! The MLB elimination action gets started tonight with a showdown between the Yankees and Red Sox. Let’s get straight to it!

About Last Night

Chargers in command
NFL Week 4 lasted a little longer than expected as there was a weather delay before the Chargers could play the Raiders on Monday Night Football. When the action did get going, the Los Angeles team took control, with 3 passing TDs by Justin Herbert and a 117-yard rushing game from Austin Ekeler paving the way for a 28-14 win and ending the Raiders’ unbeaten start. Our game pick of Chargers -3.5 cashed comfortably. Check out Ricky Dimon’s verdict on what we learned from Raiders vs Chargers.

Today’s Slate

Yankees and Red Sox get MLB playoffs started
The MLB field has been reduced from 30 to just 10, and we will lose two more teams over the next two days. There’s only one game in town tonight, but it’s a great one, as rivals the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox fight out the American League Wild-Card game at Fenway Park (8pm ET, ESPN).

Best Bet of the Day

Under 8 total runs in Yankees vs Red Sox
8pm ET, ESPN

Gerrit Cole can be expected to pitch well in such an important game. He saw the Boston offense a lot in the regular season and he should allow 2 to 4 runs before the Yankees’ bullpen gets involved. With the day off on Monday, both teams now have a well-rested bullpen, which makes this under look attractive. If more than 3 runs are scored against these bullpens it would be a surprise, so back the under in Boston. Read our full preview for tonight’s game.

Stat of the Day

After allowing 5 or fewer hits in his first 8 starts, Yankees starter Gerrit Cole has allowed at least 5 hits in 6 of his last 8 starts.

Boost of the day

NY Yankees to win by 1-3 runs vs Red Sox

A close game is expected at Fenway Park and FanDuel Sportsbook has enhanced the odds of a narrow Yankees victory by 1-3 runs from +190 to +230.
