Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers picks, predictions, best bets, odds and spreads: Aaron Rodgers beats Tom Brady

Two of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history go head to head on Sunday afternoon as Aaron Rodgers faces off against Tom Brady when the Packers battle the Buccaneers. The Bucs have won each of their opening 2 games, while the Packers bounced back from Week 1 disappointment to win last week. But with Tampa facing all kinds of issues at receiver, can Green Bay get the win? Our NFL expert has picks, predictions and best bets for Packers vs Buccaneers, so let’s break it all down.

NFL Week 3 Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers prediction

A lot of this Packers vs Buccaneers game will depend on which Tampa receivers are available, since Mike Evans is suspended while Chris Godwin and Julio Jones are both questionable. If all of those players are out then expect the Bucs to struggle, especially since they are dealing with issues along of the offensive line as well. Could all this be too much for Brady to overcome?

Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers expert picks

We’ve got 3 standout NFL picks for this week’s clash between the Packers and Buccaneers, including a prop bet selection.

Packers vs Buccaneers against the spread pick: Packers +1.5 (-110) over Buccaneers

This is the most highly anticipated game of the Week 3 slate as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Green Bay Packers. It’s Tom Brady vs Aaron Rodgers — what more could we ask for as football fans? For a few reasons, I think Rodgers will get the better of his rival this time. For starters, the Bucs will be without receiver Mike Evans here after he was hit with a one-game suspension for his involvement in a scuffle with Marshon Lattimore last week. That’s very bad news for a Tampa receiving corps which already has Julio Jones and Chris Godwin dealing with nagging injuries. The Packers got their butts kicked by the Vikings in Week 1, but how many times have we seen them get off to a slow start and then look just fine?

They looked better than just fine on Sunday Night Football against the Bears last week, dominating them in a 27-10 win that could have been more lopsided if not for a couple of miscues. Rodgers averaged 9.4 yards per attempt in that game, and Aaron Jones rushed for 132 on the ground. Tampa Bay’s defense looked great last week, but that was against an injured Jameis Winston. Rodgers is a big step up in competition, to put it mildly. Brady really struggled last week against New Orleans, and it gets tougher now without Evans in the lineup.

Packers vs Buccaneers Over/Under totals pick: Over 41.5 (-110)

Oddsmakers might be overcompensating for the loss of Mike Evans and the lack of explosiveness of these offenses so far. Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady are still two of the best quarterbacks in the game, and I expect them to put on a show. Green Bay’s passing game looked just fine without Davante Adams last week, and things weren’t nearly as bad as they looked in the Minnesota game.

The injuries to Tampa’s receiving corps have caused this line to be set too low, and I don’t expect this Packers defense to be anything better than an average unit this year. Even against an anemic Bears offense last week, they allowed David Montgomery to average over 8 yards per carry, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Leonard Fournette breaks out for the Bucs. The week before that, Green Bay got shredded by Kirk Cousins as Justin Jefferson torched their secondary for 184 yards.

Packers vs Buccaneers player prop pick: Tom Brady to throw an interception (-110)

The big news this week is that WR1 Mike Evans is suspended this week against the Packers. Combined with injuries to Chris Godwin, Julio Jones, Breshad Perriman, and Scotty Miller, this Buccaneers WR corps could be depleted come Sunday. I expect at least one of Godwin or Julio to be out. This means inexperienced players could be thrust into high-volume roles. As a result, there could be miscommunication at some point between Brady and his receivers on Sunday which can lead to an interception.

The Packers currently rank 9th overall in pass rush according to PFF. DT Kenny Clark is graded out as 2nd in the NFL to only Aaron Donald, which is scary for Brady. With injuries to the interior of that Buccaneers O-line, expect to see Brady deal with pressure up the middle.
