The weekend in the NBA starts with a banger in Milwaukee. Entering tonight’s matchup the Bucks have won 16 games in a row, but they’ll have to go through Joel Embiid and the 76ers in order to make it 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm ET on ABC, and I’ve prepared a Same Game Parlay to spice things up a little.

Don’t forget to visit our NBA predictions for picks on the side and total on Saturday’s 6-game slate. Let’s dive into my SGP bet now!

Philadelphia 76ers ML (+180)

I don’t blame you if you’re backing the Bucks to win this game, as judging by how the Sixers have played lately that’s the more likely outcome. But, as we saw last night when the Nets came back from 28 points down to beat the Celtics on the road, things don’t always go to plan. I’d say if these teams met in a playoff series this would go to 7 games easily, as on paper they are evenly matched teams. The regular-season series is split at 1-1 at the moment, with Philly winning the previous matchup 110-102. It hasn’t been the best of starts coming out of the All-Star break for the Sixers, who are coming off a big loss at Dallas which should have been a wake-up call. Milwaukee has been nothing short of amazing during this run, but no team in the NBA is without flaws. Philadelphia has 10 wins in its last 13road  games and 14 in the last 20 overall. If anyone can end the Bucks’ win streak it is a motivated Joel Embiid and James Harden.

Joel Embiid over 31.5 points (-115)

Nobody hates losing more than Joel Embiid and you could see the disappointment on his face after the recent losses to Boston, Miami and Dallas. Going up against Giannis tonight, he has a opportunity to redeem himself, not that he’s played badly in any of those games. Embiid is averaging 31.3 points per game in his last 10 outings and that’s with him struggling to shoot the 3-ball. He’s been aggressive and getting to the line often, and in 3 of his last 4 games he has had double-digit free-throw attempts. In the last game against Milwaukee he dropped 32 points, and that was the second time in 4 meetings he had been able to clear that line. It’s not going to be easy scoring against an elite defense such as Milwaukee’s, but these type of games can turn a team’s season around and a big game would put Embiid back into the MVP conversation. I’m expecting him to perform.

Giannis Antetokounmpo over 0.5 made threes (-186)

Giannis is on a streak of at least 1 made three in 4 straight games against Philly. He’s drained a trey in 11 of the last 13 games when he has faced them, dating back to 2019, so just by those numbers this bet should land. For a guy who has often been labelled as a liability when shooting from deep, Giannis is actually doing just fine over his last 9 games, making almost 37% of his attempts. He’s coming off a 3-for-4 night against Orlando, his second game in a row with at least 1 three made. As a team the Bucks scored 26 threes in that win, so their game plan shouldn’t change too much tonight. The Sixers defense hasn’t been great in defending the three-ball as they have allowed 41.2% of threes in their last 3 games. With back-to-back 30-point performances Antetokounmpo has proved his injuries are behind him and he can do some damage from the perimeter tonight.
