At long last, the 2022 NFL season is finally here. The battle for the Lombardi Trophy begins this week, and won’t let up until Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023. But before we can think about the Super Bowl, there’s an entire season of football for us to enjoy.

With a full slate of games this week, there are plenty of matchups that can fit a standard 2-team Wong teaser. The goal of a 2-team, 6-point teaser is to maximize the value of your bet by teasing both selections through the key numbers of 3 and 7. In order to ensure the most value, make sure you’re getting approximately -120 odds for any 2-team, 6-point teaser.

Let’s take a look at our best teaser picks for Week 1 of the NFL season.

NFL teaser leg 1: Minnesota Vikings +8 vs Green Bay Packers

To lead off our 2-team teaser, I’ll be teasing the Vikings up to +8. This is a game that I think Minnesota wins outright, so I’ll certainly play the Vikings as a 6-point teaser gets us through the key numbers of 3 and 7. Simply put, this is a perfect spot for the Vikings. Minnesota will be fully healthy for the first time in a few seasons, and it gets to host a Packers team that is integrating a ton of new pieces on offense. Gone is Davante Adams as Aaron Rodgers’ security blanket and it should take time for Rodgers to build a connection with his new receiving corps. On the other side, the Vikings have an elite group of weapons on offense and Kirk Cousins has traditionally thrived in this rivalry at home.

Minnesota played in a dozen close games a season ago, making them a great teaser candidate. Win or lose, this one promises to be a tight divisional matchup. The Vikings have won 6 of the last 10 meetings against the Packers, including 4 of the last 6 at home. The underdog is 4-1 against the spread in the last 5 series meetings, and we don’t even need Minnesota to cover the spread for our teaser. I can’t see this game being decided by more than a touchdown in either direction, so back the Vikings with confidence here.

Teaser leg 2: Baltimore Ravens -1 vs New York Jets

For our second teaser leg, I’ll be targeting the Baltimore Ravens against the New York Jets. I’m a little weary of laying a touchdown on the road in Week 1, so I’m happy to essentially get Baltimore on the money line here. The Ravens will have a fully healthy Lamar Jackson at quarterback, in addition to the services of JK Dobbins, Rashod Bateman and a number of players that missed some extended time in 2021. Mark Andrews is the biggest piece of their passing game and he should have no trouble getting free against New York’s secondary, as the Jets allowed the 5th highest yards per reception to tight ends last season. Behind a reinforced offensive line, the Ravens should be able to generate success on the ground.

Once Baltimore establishes the line of scrimmage, that’ll allow Jackson to make plays with his legs as well, ultimately leading to easy throws in the short and intermediate passing game. This style of football works best once a lead is established, and I expect Baltimore to dominate the time of possession en route to a road victory.
